Travel Lenses for the Honeymoon

It was my

biggest dilemma…. more important than which flats to take, or choosing to take 5 necklaces rather than that one realllly heavy one that I love. This decision drove me crazy for a few days before the honeymoon. I remember saying to Michael “Ohhhh I just don’t know which one to choose!!” He would always respond with something like “Katelyn, it’s not that big of a deal.” Ummm Excuse me?! YES, yes it is most definitely a BIG DEAL! Deciding which lenses to take to our Mediterranean honeymoon was huge. The first thing I did was take my battery grip off the bottom of my camera body. Sisters.

They can get along and be the best of friends or they can be each others biggest enemy! I know for my sister and I, we went through the “enemy” phase in Middle school. We couldn’t stand each other. She would scream, I would grab her arm with my nails and say “SHHHH… If you cry to momma we’ll BOTH get in trouble for fighting!”. We had that type of relationship. However, believe it or not, we grew out of that phase when we entered high school. We would still have our moments of driving each other crazy, but for the most part, Emy and I slowly became really amazing friends. Now that we’re grown up and have moved on to college/married life….

Charlie & Roxie

stole the show for the beginning of Alex and Nikki’s downtown Richmond engagement session. (I’m getting kinda used to these sessions in the fan! They’re fun!) Charlie is Alex’s GORGEOUS Golden Retriever and little Roxie is Nikki’s Lopsa poo. Cutest little family ever! I loved my time with them, all four of them! After we left the furry ones at home and continued the session… I almost called Alex “Charlie” on several occasions. ha! Alex and Nikki are two of the sweetest, most down to earth people I have had the opportunity to work with. Walking around with those two and hearing their story and more about their wedding made me so thankful for my job!

Sleeping bags

TOTALLY covered the ENTIRE floor of our house this past Friday night. The study had sleeping bags, pillows and Vera Bradley duffles piled at high as the light switch and 32 high school girls came for the biggest sleepover I have EVER hosted. 32 girls… in our 1300 sq foot house! YIKES! Talked about cramped. Luckily these girls are amazing and all love each other so it worked out perfectly. I don’t know how 4 girls slept on one couch but they made it happen! Michael is the Upper school youth pastor at Gayton Baptist Church (pssst. if you are in the Richmond area and need a church home, check it out!). Venice was…

everything we thought it would be. Little men in striped shirts asking us to pay $100 Euros for a Gondola ride (no way!), quaint cafes and shops lining all of the rustic, waterlined streets, and beautiful buildings with colorful paint chipping off the windows and door frames. I loved Venice. It was one of my favorite places to take pictures. Everywhere I turned I saw door knobs and old shutters that I couldn’t help but snap a few shots off. I remember going to London and Paris in high school and being overwhelmed by all of the awesome architecture…. only I had a HORRIBLE point and shoot camera at the time. This trip was a little different.
