Meet Little

Gene…. I usually preface newborn posts with something like “I don’t normally do these” or “I’m more comfortable with weddings” because that’s the truth. Weddings are what I LOVE the most and I feel most comfortable when I’m shooting weddings.  This is so ironic because weddings are high-stress shooting situations and newborn sessions are  relaxed and a more slower pace. The house is warm, the baby is sleeping, the baby wakes up, the baby eats, the baby falls back asleep…. it’s a long process and every time I shoot a newborn session, I learn something new and I love that! …. During Gene’s session I learned that not all babies

We're Outta' Here!

Gayton's Winter Retreat

We’re heading

out this afternoon for a weekend away with 50 of our new friends…..50 teenagers. This is going to be fun! My email vacation responder is set, my bags are (almost) packed and I’m getting ready to make a last minute Walmart run! I couldn’t be more excited to get away for the weekend and have unlimited time to be with these awesome people. Michael was able to go on the Mission trip last summer and I couldn’t…. I have these things called “weddings” that kinda take over all of my weekends during the summer! I pouted at home the whole week! So I finally get to go on a trip with the youth at our church and I’m so ready! So if you think about it during this weekend,

When did I

start looking forward to this wedding?! …. After I received my first email from Brittany! I loved this girl. She was engaged for well over a year and so it seemed like FOREVER until her wedding! We emailed about details, she sent me a picture of the dress and I knew from the very beginning that I was going to absolutely LOVE working with her. She’s my ideal client. She was SO excited to get married, she loved DETAILS and she cares so much about her pictures! When I showed up to the fabulous Jefferson Hotel where the girls were getting ready I immediately loved her bridesmaids! I felt like one of them.  All I needed was a black dress and I would have fit right in.  They’re the sweetest!

Candy Bars
Wedding candy bar favors

For our wedding

we decided to have a candy bar for our favors. BEST. IDEA. EVER.  I wasn’t always set on this idea. I had thought about making cute little individual gifts for all of our guest… and then I looked at our guest list of 400+ people and I became frightened. No way! So the Candy Bar was our best option. We spent about $300 on our candy bar and while that might seem really expensive… you have to realize that this candy bar was for a HUGE wedding! $300 for favors means that we spent less than $1.00 on favors for each guest. (And I got some awesome apothecary jars that now reside on our mantle!). Momma and I bought the candy

The Goals

January
january goals

here it is.

My first GOALS post. This is how much I NEED to be writing down goals…..I had a “Goal” to blog about “GOALS” since January 1st…. and now it’s January 25th and I’m just now getting around to it! Get my point?? I think blogging about some monthly goals may be extremely beneficial for me for many reasons. 1. It will hold me accountable. 2. It will hold me accountable and 3. It will really hold me accountable. That’s what I need! My to-do lists are wonderful but there are always a few things that I really need to just get accomplished and I keep re-writing them on my daily to-do lists and before I know it, they disappear and never get done. So!
