When I

first started, I blog stalked like no one’s business. I watched my favorite photographer’s EVERY move! It wasn’t because I was a creeper… even though at times I felt like one… it was because I was desperate to LEARN.  I seriously learned SO much from reading other photographer’s blogs and watching them as they continued to grow THEIR business. I wanted whatever lenses Jasmine was shooting with and whatever light setup Justin and Mary were using etc. etc. There is nothing wrong with that! It gave me a place to START! However, I think I’m finally at a place where I’m making decisions based on what “I” need for my business,

Our First Vacation

The red and orange

bands of Irene were covering the whole bottom of the east coast and the red lines of doom that showed the projected path were not in our favor. Michael and I were supposed to spend last week in Boston and then in Maine. We tried to make it work. After flights were canceled and Irene was creeping up the coast, I made the suggestion that we just drive up to Maine… in a hurricane. Michael didn’t even respond to that one. I was disappointed that our plans were not working out but Michael was determined to plan a last minute vacation.  We had been looking forward to having a week of no emails, no phone calls and NO BLOGGING!

We walked

down the hall of the church and followed the sound of excited voices coming from the bride’s room.  When I saw Megan she gave me and HUGE hug and squealed. Her day was FINALLY here!!! This girl couldn’t have been more excited to get married. My sweet friend Jessie shot this wedding with me and I am SO grateful for her! After leaving to go shoot the details, Jess mentioned that Megan may be the most excited bride she’s ever seen! … And that’s saying A LOT because Jessie has been shooting weddings longer than I have! Megan just has this joy about her. She’s one of those girls that you meet and can’t help but love. After meeting these two at their engagement session,

There is so

much to think about when planning a wedding and I know it can be overwhelming. However, if you’re a bride and you’ve invested in really high quality photography, I bet you want the BEST pictures possible!! And while a photographer should be able to make the most out of every situation, there are some things a bride can do to help a photographer out! Today I’m just focusing on the “getting ready” portion of the day. I LOVE the moments when the dress is going on and the bridesmaids are squealing and mom starts tearing up. These are really incredible moments…. and they deserve some incredible light too! Wouldn’t you agree?
