The Workshop Experience

Last year

I hosted the Sugar Shoot workshop and it was a BLAST. The colors, the candy shop, our wonderful models… I loved it! I knew I loved teaching and meeting other photographers that really CARED about growing their businesses. People asked if I was going to host another one and I said yes… without really knowing when or where or how. Fall came and I realized that the time had come. If this was going to happen, I needed to get the show on the road!! At the same time, Michael and I had been brainstorming and we decided to redo our overall approach to the business. After reviewing the last few years of business and what worked and what didn’t… we just kept coming back to “The Experience”.

I made it!

I made it to the end! Today is a glorious day. I’ve done laundry, emails, sent some lenses and a camera body off to be cleaned and I’m getting ready to start some editing. (By the way, I use CPS for all the photogs out there, it’s a worthwhile investment!) I just feel relieved. Really relieved. Almost to the point of getting a little emotional. This year has been a long year and while it’s been one of the BEST… it has also required a ton of work. However, I’m so incredibly thankful for the 34 couples that allowed me to be a part of one of the biggest days of their LIFE. It’s was an HONOR. I look at these images and I’m overwhelmed with gratitude. These couples

It amazes

me at how BUSY some of these brides are. Lena contacted me months ago and we set up their engagement session. This was the only time they could get together and make it happen. Josh is in Med school and Lena has an internship several hours away from him. Oh long distance……it’s hard! However, I kinda like shooting engagement sessions for couples that don’t get to see each other every single day because this time for them is EXTRA special! They cherish their time more because they don’t get a lot of it! So as soon as I met these two, I knew it was going to be a great shoot. Their Save-the-Date idea was genius,

noticed how much of a BAD BLOGGER I have been this week? Short posts, thrown together at the last minute… it must be WORKSHOP WEEK! Tomorrow (really today but I’m posting this late wednesday night!!) I’m hosting The Workshop Experience. It’s a Katelyn James Photography Workshop, just more streamlined than the Sugar Shoot. The Sugar Shoot was fabulous. And when I say “Fabulous”…. BLOGS! They’re everywhere!! It’s crazy how many new ones pop up each month! Since today is WEDDING WEDNESDAY and I’m in the midst of planning a “fake” wedding for tomorrow, I thought I would share my top fav wedding blogs! Ok? Ok! So here they are… GREEN WEDDING SHOES was my first love. I started looking at this blog first, years ago! Then I found STYLE ME PRETTY and I fell in love with the classy style they always portray in their posts. THEN I found GREY LIKES WEDDINGS and I love this blog because I love the styling of it.
