It’s Tuesday

and that means tomorrow is Wednesday…(I’m brilliant, I know). So if tomorrow is Wednesday, that means I’m half way through the week…. and I haven’t gotten half of my work done yet! So…. today has to be incredibly efficient! I’m trying this new method of a to-do list where I schedule everything… if I’m not done with emails after an hour… the rest will have to wait until later. I’m trying to be strict!! Puppy potty breaks happen every hour on the hour and blogging needs to only take an hour and a half! GAH! So that means I need to hurry! I apologize in advance for my typos…. I’m sure my mother or sister will correct all of them when they read this post.

My office

has been a work in progress for the last year and a half. You see, when you run your business out of a DORM ROOM for two years, it takes a while to really get organized once you have a “big girl office”. I have filing cabinets and charts and places to actually DISPLAY my sample albums. Before I got married and was in college, I stored my whole business in a room smaller than most people’s walk-in closets! It’s amazing “Katelyn James Photography” didn’t shut down after year one!! So today I’m showing my latest project that I have been working on recently. I finished my craft closet and now I’ve conquered the “Production Wall”.

Welp, we have

officially become “those people”…. ya know, the type of people that talk to their dogs like they are humans, the type of people that have more pictures on their iphone of their puppy then of themselves and the type of people that buy outfits…. for their PETS. Yup. We’re guilty. I used to see pictures of dogs in little outfits and think “Oh MY gosh, you probably spent $15 on a sweater vest for your chihuahua!! How ridiculous!!”. Well as we walked through Petsmart… we spotted a little tiny red raincoat…with a hood included. Michael stopped and looked at it, and then looked at me… almost as if he was saying

The theme

words used on their wedding day included “service, kind, compassionate, wise, thoughtful, etc”. Chris and Christine are well loved by their family and friends and that was so evident on their wedding day. It seemed like every time someone would speak of them, compliments just flowed out of their mouths. I had met Christine through my best friend Caroline when they roomed together at Tech. I knew how sweet of a friend she was to Caroline but I had never had many opportunities to hangout with Christine the last 5 years. After only an hour of hanging out at the salon, I knew it was going to be a wonderful celebration. Christine just has this calm, sweet presence about her and that’s the PERFECT

writing this three part series on my journey to photography… I really feel like I’ve experienced a BLAST from the PAST! Going through old images and projects has really made me realize just how much my “VISION” has changed over the last 5 years. Five years ago I was a freshman in college, thinking I was going to be an art teacher… and painting dishes on the side. Then my journey shifted to more of a “graphic design” phase….
