The Quest for Creativity

Part 2 | Graphic Design
graphic-design-phase

Yesterday

I blogged about “Part 1″ in my “Quest for Creativity”.  I started a small business painting dishes. How random is that?! Today we’re moving onto “Part 2″ and this is the phase when I started to realize that graphic design was AWESOME. I remember getting involved with Yearbook and eventually becoming the editor . My 7th period was filled with layout design, cover ideas, captions etc. etc. I loved it! Now, the yearbook designing process was pretty basic, but what this experience did was introduce me to the world of ADOBE! I had no choice but to MASTER InDesign and once I realized how much I loved this program, I wanted the WHOLE Creative Suite! Now if you’re in the graphic design

The Quest for Creativity

Part 1 | "Katelyn's Krafts"

People ask

all the time… “How did you get started into photography?” …. “When did you KNOW you wanted to be a photographer?”…. “When did you find out that you were creative?”  Well, there isn’t just one answer to these questions.  I like to think of my journey to photography as a “Quest for Creativity!” I went through three phases of creativity before I really found what I LOVED the most. These phases started in high school and continued throughout college where I finally discovered that photography was something I wanted to pursue as a career. You may have heard me say this before… but having a creative mind doesn’t

Saying Goodbye

I'm Attached.

Today I

am heading out of town for a wedding tomorrow. I’m excited! I get to see my sister… one of my favorite people in the world! And I get to see my bestest friend Caroline! …. and I get to take pretty pictures and be in the mountains!!… And I get to travel and sing Adele the WHOLE way to Blacksburg!! ….. But all of that joy diminishes when I think about leaving little Bokeh. I feel so ridiculous. It’s a DOG Katelyn. You’re not leaving your newborn CHILD…. you’re leaving your new puppy… for less than 24 hours! It’s NOT that big of a deal……right? It’s not like I’m going to miss him growing up overnight…. it’s only one day!

Adam + Lauren | Engaged

West Virginia, Harpers Ferry Engagement Shoot

I knew

they were brave when they asked to do their engagement session in January! Lauren emailed and asked if we could schedule this shoot and said they were up for the challenge so we made it happen. This past weekend I drove up to Harpers Ferry, WV and shot Adam and Lauren’s session and it was CHILLY! Oh man was it cold! It’s already hard to get “warmed up” in front of the camera, figuratively speaking… but we LITERALLY needed to get them warmed up! The 30 degree day was definitely a challenge but they made it happen and I’m so thankful

Wedding Wednesday

Finding "The Dress"

We are going

through a bit of a life change at the moment. I don’t do well with crying puppies in crates. Michael told me to put Bokeh in his crate and go up to my office and just blast the music so I can’t hear him sobbing. ugh. It’s a miserable feeling but I HAVE to get some things done, even though it’s my off season! There are some things that I could accomplish now and they would REALLY save me some time for this upcoming 2012 wedding season. The list is long but I’m working hard at it!!  Normally, on Wednesdays when I feel rushed or I have too much to do, I blog about something interesting… but EASY.
