Wedding Wednesday

Tips for creating a theme through details
details-wedding-gold

I talk a lot

about themes on a wedding day. We had a theme for our wedding… “Vintage Peacock”!  I STILL find random feathers around our house!!  Some brides have their theme nailed down and planned out perfectly…. and some brides are like “Hey, I’m getting married and I could care less about a theme!”. No matter what type of bride I’m working with, I have to be the one that makes the wedding day cohesive! It’s really crazy to think about but the photographer determines the way the wedding day will be remembered. AH! No pressure right?!!  The way we shoot determines the look and feel of the album and the blog post… and those are two main ways

Our House | Before & Afters

The Kitchen

The kitchen

has been halfway done for quite some time now. It’s at the phase where it’s “good enough” and so we haven’t made any effort to completely finish it. You can say we’re lazy…. but in reality, we just haven’t had time to focus on putting up beadboard and a new backsplash. We’ve lived in this house for almost a year and a half and I’m proud of what we’ve accomplished in this crazy phase of life. When we bought this little cape cod, I walked in, LOVED it…. and immediately had a list of things that we were going to change. The couple that lived here before us had a very traditional style. Dark pine trim work, dark cabinets, NO color on the walls… yikes!

Lazy Mondays

And Remembering the Small Stuff

My bedroom

floor is covered in articles of clothing. Shirts, jeans, jackets, sweatpants, sweaters…. I don’t even remember which ones are clean and which ones need to be added to the massive “Laundry” pile in the hallway.  The kitchen counter has a HUGE stack of mail on the counter and underneath that stack of unread bills and letters is my tax packet that I need to fill out for my CPA…. by the end of this week.  My inbox is overflowing and I still haven’t caught up with emails since our trip to Vegas. I’m hosting a workshop in three weeks and I need to send emails and order food and plan… BIGTIME…. and I have a puppy… a sweet fluffy puppy that we have been

As I was

shooting this wedding, I thought to myself “How on earth am I going to put this wedding into words”.  This blog post was intimidating to write because I just don’t think just my “words” will do this wedding justice. The uniqueness of this was SO wonderful and the JOY that filled this celebration was undeniable.  Molly and John planned this wedding to mirror who THEY are. Every last detail had a piece of their personality all over it. I loved it… I loved it ALL!! Jill second shot this wedding with me and I’m always so thankful when my couples opt to hire a second pair of hands for their wedding because it really is a HUGE help to me! Jill spent the morning with the guys and I spent time shooting details

Featured Friday

Meet Rebekah | Rebekah Hoyt Photography

Are you

Worried?! Are you scared that I’ve gone CRAZY?! I’m sure you’re a little concerned that Katelyn went crazy in Vegas, bumped her head and she seriously thinks it’s FRIDAY! No, I’m fully aware that today is THURSDAY….. however.. if I titled this post “Featured Thursday”… that would just sound DUMB. The wedding post for this week isn’t ready since I’ve been in Vegas all week so I’m swapping days. If you’re super type A…. you’re probably cringing right now and thinking “But Thursdays are ALWAYS “Wedding Days” for the blog! What is she DOING?!”. Well, sometimes you just have to work with what you have….
