A High School Sweetheart Engagement

She contacted

me and said she wanted a magical wedding! She wanted it to be magical and whimsical! Brittnie and her mom met with me months ago and as soon as I sat down with them, I could totally see why Brittnie wanted a “Magical” wedding! SHE was magical! She seriously reminds me of a disney princess! The way she talks, how beautiful she is, her positive attitude… she’s just wonderful! How do I get to work with such fabulous brides? I have no idea! I’m just so thankful that I get to be a part of their big day in August. When I first met Brittnie, I asked about Austen and how they met. She smiled and said “Oh he’s my high school sweetheart”.  And because I married my

Tracking Down the Ties

When I was

planning MY wedding… I ran into a common problem! I would see ideas on wedding blogs (thank goodness I wasn’t addicted to Pinterest at the time!) and I would want to replicate those ideas for my wedding but I didn’t know HOW! Where do brides find adorable mix-matchy dresses? Where do they find custom signs and handmade jewlery? And WHERE in the WORLD did they find those awesome TIES and BOWTIES?!  I had a really bad tie dilema! It was quite frustrating. I bought several ties from Etsy that were just blah (however you CAN find amazing wedding stuff on there!!!)… and then I searched every department

Preston + Katie

A Classic Southern Wedding | Clover Forest Plantation

You know

it’s going to be a hot day when it’s 85 degrees at 11am. I left the house and prepared myself for a long day in the sun.  Despite the heat, I was excited! Preston and Katie are a sweet couple. I’ve loved them since day one and they were getting married at a location that I have never photographed before….and I LOVE THAT!  New places mean new ideas and that’s fun for a photographer! I couldn’t be one of those photographers that shoots  at the same venue 15 times a year!  I need some variety in my life and so Clover Forest Plantation sounded exciting to me!  I drove through some country roads and then I saw it. It was gorgeous. Tucked back in the rolling hills of Goochland county is a 17th century plantation

This is Embarrassing

Hearing embarrassing

stories about other people can sometimes make you feel so much better about yourself…. wouldn’t you agree? You hear about dumb things that other people do and you can’t help but think “Wow…. that was bad… I feel a little smarter knowing that they did something so silly.”  Is that just me? Maybe I’m the only horrible person in the world that feels that way every now and then! Well, luckily for you, I’m going to make you feel brilliant today. Seriously, after you hear what I did, you’ll feel like a genuis because more than likely (especially if you’re a photographer),

The Power of Practice

Editing and Finding Your Style

So much has

changed in four years…. so much. Four years ago I was working on a beat up 17″ macbook pro, doodling in InDesign and trying to launch my career in graphic design.  Now look at me. What in the world?! This is not what I thought I would be doing! I had other plans for my life that I thought were going to be great… but God had other things in mind… and thankfully, He knows best:).  I am REALLY thankful that God brought photography into my life when he did. I started young. I was in college, I was already into the whole “graphics/techy” world so I wasn’t totally blindsided by the lingo and the complexity
