Bokeh is Ready to Relax!

Welp, by the

time this is published, we’ll be on the beaches in the Virgin Islands! Michael is assisting me as I shoot a wedding there on Sunday. We decided to go a few days early and take a mini-vacation before the work begins and we’re pumped! …. and so is Bokeh! Bokeh gets to spend a few days at Grandma’s house!! And he LOVES visiting both of them! Bobbi and Mike buy him a new treat every time he visits and my family lives on 10 acres and Bokeh gets to RUN FREE! So when he gets to go to Grandma’s…. no matter which one it is… he’s EXCITED!! By this time we’re probably missing him a little bit but I’m sure he’s doing just fine without us!!

A Williamsburg Engagement Shoot

I pulled

up and immediately met Brian and Whitney. It’s always really obvious which couple is waiting for me because the girl always has her hair done and the guy is coordinating perfectly. We said hello and then Ben stuck his MASSIVE head out of the window of Brian’s truck! WOW!! This dog was HUGE!! I’m so used to Bokeh. Bokeh is literally 11 pounds and most of this body consists of FLUFF! An 82 pound lab is a big adjustment. There is more power in Bennett’s TAIL than there is in Bokeh’s whole body!! As we were shooting I offered to just hold Ben’s leash and snap a few of two of them and Brian very kindly informed me that that would be a bad idea.

series on my blog called “Ask Anything” and it’s basically a series of posts that answer FAQ’s from photographers! Well, today I want to open up the same opportunity for BRIDES!! I’m definitely NOT a wedding planner but after shooting 80+ weddings and planning my own, I think it’s safe to say that I’ve see a lot! I’ve seen GREAT ideas, NOT so great ideas… amazing details, awesome timelines, etc. etc. So! I want to open up this wedding wednesday to YOU!! There are

some days when I really can’t believe that this is my job. This past Saturday was one of those days. People say that when you love what you do, it never feels like work. Well, after a LONG day of shooting my feet would disagree with that statement. It’s hard work shooting a wedding but it’s so rewarding. I get the privilege of photographing amazing couples and gaining new friendships in the process. Brian and Kristen are amazing to work with and their wedding left me incredibly thankful for my career. As I scouted out locations for portraits on the beaches of Santa Monica, California, I was beyond excited… but also nervous. When I shoot destination weddings I want them to be EXTRA special. Today’s post

isn’t about weddings… or photography tips… or my business in general. This post is for my parents. They are the two people in my life who have influenced me more than anyone else. I’ve watched them and have learned from them since I was a little girl. I’ve watched them as leaders in our church and our community, I’ve watched them run our house and keep all of our crazy lives straight but most importantly, I’ve watched them love and serve each other for 24 years. I didn’t realize it while it was happening but every little thing they did affected me. I grew up wanting what they had. I wanted a husband that loved me like daddy loves momma…
