There has

been a common theme rolling around in my head this week. It’s the idea of “balance” and what a “normal life” is supposed to look like.  I see people walking their dogs at the same time every morning and older couples that take a nightly jog together.  We live close to a little league park and I see families pull in every Tuesday night for games and then probably head home to get homework done before bedtime. Some couples we know get to relax every Saturday.  Saturday’s are “normal” people’s day to do LIFE stuff. Like running to the grocery store, yard work, visiting family, shopping with friends, etc etc.  But that isn’t my life…my job AND

You may remember

this sweet couple from their engagement session last year. It was shot in NYC and I was just SO THRILLED that I was the photographer lucky enough to work with these two!! Matt and Clare are just phenomenal people.  You meet them and you love them… instantly. I’ve been looking forward to their wedding day for OVER a YEAR now and I’m happy to say that the images that we were able to create far exceeded my expectations for this wonderful wedding! You see, as soon as I shoot an engagement session, I start thinking about the wedding and what I envision it will look like. I knew Clare’s dress was going to be amazing and that her sense of style was fabulous so I have been

The "I Can Do This" Moment

And an Anniversary!

When I first

started, there were moments of GREAT FEAR.  Actually, my first 10 weddings were actually filled with a lot of  FEAR. I was so nervous. I had no training, I didn’t have hardly ANY experience and I had no clue what I was doing. I shot through weddings just HOPING for a “Money Shot” or two. I cringed at the thought of using just a simple on-camera flash and family formals were the death of me.  It’s amazing that I decided to keep going because in my mind, I had only ever shot 2-3 images that gave me HOPE for a future in photography. How DREARY is this post so far?!! Don’t worry, it gets better.  After I made it through the fall of 2008,

This post is

late because I actually took a 1/2 day today!! Aren’t you proud of me!?! Those that know me the best know that I have workaholic tendencies and so it’s really a BIG deal for me to take time off for myself! …. Especially during wedding season! So this morning was spent running errands, going to the gym, cleaning the kitchen and doing things most people make time for in their life… but not this girl. It’s a constant battle for me to manage LIFE and a BUSINESS but I’m getting better at it! I’m SO thankful that my sister is around this summer to help out and be my right hand!  My laundry is done,

The Snapshot

This week

I found myself doing a strange thing.  I spent 40 minutes looking at houses for sale in our area… just for fun. We’re not house shopping… we’re not even close to house shopping. I just get these weird and random obsessions some weeks and they suck up time! (I did find an amazing house that I love!! But that’s irrelevant!)  So besides searching for houses that I don’t need, I actually HAVE gotten a lot done recently.  May was wonderful and while it was the start of CRAZINESS for me… I enjoyed it! May’s weddings were beautiful! I just can’t believe I shoot my first June 2013 wedding tomorrow!! This year is flying by so SO fast!!
