A Wine Themed Wedding | The Williamsburg Lodge

Williamsburg is

known for it’s history. Colonial buildings, historic tours, great food… it’s all there. People come from all over the world to visit this historic area and walk the streets of merchant square. As much as Williamsburg is a great tourist location, it’s also a beautiful location to get married!! Joe and Kathleen decided a year ago to be married at the Williamsburg Lodge and it was a perfect pick for them! The lodge is tucked away on one of the side streets of Williamsburg and it’s surrounded by gardens and historic homes. It’s a wonderful location… but the best part is that the lodge is WELL air conditioned!! Yup, it was another hot one! The temperature in the dash of my car read 103 when we arrived

Some have asked

about the “business” end of my work week and how I manage everything. Well, since I don’t have an intern or a paid assistant, I have to be on top of my game… constantly. And that’s hard work. Running a small business is like raising a child. (Obviously I don’t know what it takes to raise a child but this is the best comparison I could think of!). Why? Because it’s constantly growing, needs DAILY attention and supervision, is constantly out growing itself and the work is NEVER done. Ever. You can’t turn off being a parent and you can’t turn off being a small business owner.

Every time

we took our little boat out on the lake, he would talk about them. In some ways, he almost seemed OBSESSED. He would say “That’s so awesome! We need to do that! Daddy lets do that one summer!”. My brother was obsessed with the idea of vacationing on a houseboat. My sister and I always thought that was the most redneck vacation option out there. Live on a floating TRAILER for a week?! No thank you! But Corey insisted that this would actually be FUN and that we should try something new one year and just DO IT! So we did. This past week my family and 10 other friends broke the mold for family vacation and tried something brand new.

The word

used to describe this couple throughout their whole wedding day was “light”. The priest at Brandon and Lisa’s ceremony shared with the congregation that by only meeting with this couples on a couple of occasions, he could tell that they were a couple full of LIGHT. They are leaders and they share an amazing joy with anyone and everyone that comes into their life. I felt this joy the first time I met Lisa. She’s just magnetic. You meet her and you love her. It’s as simple as that. Brandon is the same way. Before the big day, so many people mentioned to me that they knew this sweet couple. Now granted, most of those people were JMU grads but still. Mini-Vacation

US Virgin Islands | St. Thomas and St. John

Last week

Michael and I got away for a couple of days. It was a short trip but it’s amazing how refreshing just two days can be when the only thing you have to do is explore a tropical island! We arrived in St. Thomas on Thursday and stayed there for two nights. We decided to save some money and stay at the Emerald Isle Best Western instead of The Ritz ha! Like we would ever stay at The Ritz!). The great thing about tropical islands is that it’s so beautiful, ANYWHERE is perfect! We loved it! We relaxed on the beach that evening and started talking about what we could do on Friday! Michael had his heart set on renting a SCOOTER!
