Based on my

blogging calendar, I’m a little thrown off this week. I took Monday off, which would seem normal to most people since I work on Saturdays…but I still have the same type of Monday mornings like everyone else. The emails are piled up and the work is just staring at you from your computer screen. However, despite this fact, I took Monday off and I also didn’t really blog on Monday! She was making

her way up the coast and I was worried. She was gaining strength and I thought “Oh dear, if I’m shooting a wedding in the midst of Sandy’s wrath, I’m done for!”. However, Sandy took a different route on Saturday and we were grateful!! The overcast skies were a constant reminder that it could have been raining with strong winds but it wasn’t. It was just an overcast October day. The leaves were still on the trees and it was the perfect day for a wedding!! Michael and Laura were married at the Adam’s International School in Goochland, VA. This is a newer wedding venue and it’s perfect for the DIY bride! …. and even MORE perfect for the DIY COUNTRY bride!

Yes, that’s a

new word I made up. Tomorrow I’m taking a “Hurrication”…. basically, it’s a day off because of hurricane Sandy. She’s heading up the coast and she’s making her way onto the coast! As I type, I hear acorns hitting the roof and the branches are a swayin!! We’re headed up to my parent’s house since we don’t have a generator. And lets be honest, we don’t want to miss out on a hurricane party!! My sister is in town, Michael’s not working tomorrow and schools are cancelled across the state…. so I’m taking a break too!! Ps. I wouldn’t get much done without power anyway!! So to all of my northern east coast friends, stay SAFE!!

I went on

vacation without my CAMERA. Like, my REAL camera. I left the Mark III at home for our 2 year anniversary cruise and I left it on purpose. There was a split second during packing that I thought “But I’m going to ATLANTIS and that’s just a shame not to take my REALY camera!”. Well, despite that thought, I didn’t pack it…. and I’m SO glad I didn’t!! What a relief! I know it’s sad but when your hobby is also your career, sometimes you need a vacation from it! Just when

I thought the fall colors couldn’t get ANY prettier… I drove into Leesburg. Historic downtown Leesburg is adorable on its’ own but add in tons of orange, red and yellow trees and BAAM! It becomes the most ideal wedding portrait location! Michael shot this wedding with me and I just kept repeating over and over to him “This is PERFECT!”… and it was. Not only were the trees perfect, Derek and Amy’s day was perfect as well. Holly Chapple blew us AWAY with gorgeous florals that coordinated so wonderfully with the portrait locations we ended up shooting in and I was THRILLED! I had already lost my voice from shooting a wedding the day before but I was still squealing when we were shooting
