Happy Anniversary Michael
101010-2-year-anniversary

Dear Michael,

Can you believe this? Today, two years ago… at this very moment, I was getting my hair done and trying not to freak out because the wind was blowing all of our centerpieces over!! You were hanging out at your house with your best friends and we were preparing for our wedding day. 10.10.10 had been talked up for over a YEAR with all of family and friends. It was a big day… a MONUMENTAL day!!  We waited almost a decade for this!!  As the day went on, I met you for our first look and we got teary eyed just enough to make my fake eyelashes fall off.  We took our portraits with Jasmine and JD and that hour seemed

I looked at

my “production” chart where all of my 2012 weddings are listed and I couldn’t believe that 3/4th’s of them have been shot!! It seems like just yesterday I was driving back from Brian and Whitney’s engagement shoot in Williamsburg!! The days and weeks fly by when you’re busy! As I prepped for their big day, I was excited because I’ve already seen Whitney in her gorgeous gown since she did a bridal session and I know how photogenic she is!! It was going to be a GOOD day. I just knew it!  Michael was able to accompany me for this wedding and it always makes it better to have a side kick…. especially when your side kick is your husband. :) It was a beautiful day from beginning to end.

I love it

when things just work out perfectly! Amanda and I have been emailing for MONTHS about her engagement and her wedding! We booked and I was thrilled because I love shooting destination weddings. I’ll be traveling to Georgia next spring for their beautiful wedding and I’m so excited to be there! However, it’s always tricky trying to get engagements done when you book a long distance wedding. We had emailed back and forth about the possibilities and then it clicked! I’ll be outside Atlanta at the Pursuit 31 conference! It was about an hour drive for Josh and Amanda and so we made it happen! They met me at Mt. Berry College….

Coaching

September 2012 | Brittany
coach

Last Thursday

I had the honor of meeting with Brittany of Brittany Claud Photography! We sat in my office and talked about everything from print labs to Bokeh. Last week I was super busy and so Michael took Bokeh to his grandparent’s house for a few days. I totally forgot that some of my coaching photographers… actually, ALL of them have wanted to meet Bokeh! Poor Britt, she missed out on the spastic ball of apricot colored fluff that we call our dog. He’s just been crazy recently!! whew! Two shoes have hit the trash can because of him recently!! Yikes!

OCF Placement
off-camera-flash-setup

A few weeks

ago  blogged about my new found love for the Canon 600 Ex-Rt’s. This is a new flash system that Canon announced in the early 2012 and the flashes have transmitters BUILT IN. So I don’t deal with Pocket Wizards or Radio Poppers or ANYTHING! I just set up my OFC, put my on-camera flash in the shoe mount and sync them with one click! Amazing? YES. I love them! I shoot with my On-camera flash set on Manual and my OCF on ETTL. The only disadvantage of these flashes is that if you’re shooting with a Mark II, you can’t set one flash to Manual and one to ETTL. I know that’s a bummer and it’s keeping a lot of people from investing in them.
