This wedding was wonderful not just because of the beautiful venue but also because of Brad’s amazing wedding gift. I’m telling you…. this may have been one of the BEST gifts we’ve ever seen! Brad’s best man delivered a stack of gifts to Katie and she was in shock. One by one, she opened them and with each gift, she was puzzled and maybe a little confused… until she read the card. :) The first gift was an iPad with a sticky note that read “Play me”. She turned it on and brad had recorded a video of himself talking to her. He explained that she was absolutely everything that he had ever dreamed for in a wife and a partner for life. As Katie’s mom and bridesmaids heard his sweet words, they were just in awe. Katie was truly marrying the most amazing guy. And the gift didn’t end there! She then opened, a new pair of heels, a stunning black dress and a card that said they were going to the CMA’s this November! WHAT?!!!! How amazing!!!

Michael and I loved being a part of their big day. I have to give these two some credit though… they went ABOVE and beyond for their portraits. I mean, Katie walked in knee-high grass that was infested with grasshoppers in order to have epic portraits and it was SO worth it! I’m so thankful for their bravery and willingness to follow my crazy ideas! :)

Enjoy this gorgeous wedding at Riverside on the Potomac and congrats Brad and Katie!!

I just love these colors!!!

So so beautiful!

The view from the girl’s getting ready suite! wow!

I mean… I’m proud of this. :) Photographers this was shot with an 85mm so I was in another room in order to get this but I LOVE my 85 in situations like this! Layers are the best!

Gorgeous colors!!

The BEST gift! Brad is one thoughtful guy!!!

When she found out she was going to the CMA’s!!

You know what’s crazy… she doesn’t even realize how much “model” she has in her!! Such natural beauty!

Loved that her parents were relaxing on the porch during portraits!!

What a GORGEOUS barn reception!!!

One of my FAVORITES! These two were so amazing. It wasn’t easy getting up to this field!!

Oh gosh, you’ve outdone yourself yet again! Everything is so well-captured here: the vibrant COLORS, the beautiful dresses (both the bride’s & the bridesmaids’), & the gorgeous scenery. I particularly like the picture of the birds out of the window of the getting-ready suite & the picture of the bride’s parents on the porch, in addition of course to all the stunning portraits of the couple.

I’ve had the privilege of second shooting a similarly gorgeous wedding at this very venue this season. It IS lovely and the owner is so kind to work with. You absolutely captured it’s beauty! One note of caution, though… Please, please be careful in the tall grass here in Loudon County! At present, we are one of the most effected counties in the country for deer tick infestation and have had many confirmed cases of lyme. We’ve already taken two ticks off of our child this summer and she was only on a very sterile playground (e.g., not near or in grass). Okay, PSA over–the B&G portraits are SO lovely… (P.S., I think the shot of his watch may be flipped, Katelyn.)

Katelyn, thank you for this message, it was a much needed reminder! I started out shooting wedding this year, doing 2 of my own and 7 as a second shooter. I am so extremely happy second shooting and have grown so much, despite that, it is hard not to want what other people have. I started groaning about want to be the “Chef” and not the “Sous Chef,” even though I feel that I am not quite ready to venture out on my own. Isn’t that funny? People (like myself) are such ambiguous creatures. Anyway, looking forward to your educational stuff. If you can, I would love feedback for my work. Hopefully I will be updating my website soon. Thanks!
