Best Bouquets of 2011
Wedding Wednesday ~ January 4, 2012
Many don’t
realize this… but the bridal bouquet has a super power. Yes, it does. I’m not exaggerating or over analyzing…the bouquets on a wedding day have SUCH a huge effect on the images!! If you look at the majority of my wedding blog posts, the POP of color normally comes from the bouquets! They add so much! The florals of the wedding day have the ability to tie EVERYTHING together. From the boutonnieres to the centerpieces at the reception… the bouquets can incorporate it all! When brides emails me in a panic about the floral costs and they say they just want to do fake silk flowers instead…

… here’s what they need to know. If you like fake florals, that’s totally fine but they don’t photograph as well. Whenever I photograph fake flowers, I have to keep my distance so that you won’t see THREADS on the petals. And if you have been to Michael’s or Hobby Lobby or Ben Franklin lately, you know that silk flowers are EXPENSIVE! With the amount of money some brides spend on fake bouquets, they could have had a gorgeous, simple bouquet of fresh flowers! I have made TWO bouquets this year for styled shoots and they only cost me $40 MAX. So if you’re on the fence about whether to do FAKE or FRESH…. go with FRESH. There are so many ways to make a bouquet budget friendly. Another budget saving tip for a bride that wants gorgeous florals but doesn’t have the funds, JUST invest a lot into your BRIDAL BOUQUET. Your bridesmaids bouquets can be small and simple and there is NOTHING wrong with that! If you save a ton of money by having simple bridesmaids bouquets, use that extra money saved to go ALL OUT for YOUR bouquet because that is the bouquet that will get photographed and viewed the MOST. So there are some Wedding Wednesday tips about bouquets and here are some of my favorites from 2011!
.
I made these first two with flowers from Whole Foods and Martins!

(ours were fake- Matt and Brittany from a year ago) You have to choose your battles though, and severe allergies within the family just weren't worth the fight. Sad face. Can't wait for someone close to me to get married so I can help them plan their florals and live vicariously through them :)

Abby Grace: ( January 4, 2012 5:59 pm ) That image 3rd from the end is my favorite bouquet shot of yours! The lighting is so feminine and elegant. I'll admit that I shudder when someone tells me they're using silk flowers, so the next time I get a bride in a panic I'm definitely sending them to this post!
