Help! I'm Shooting My First Wedding!
shooting-my-first-wedding

It’s crazy

wild how fast this industry is growing. People ask me “So do you think anyone can be a photographer” and I feel very confident when I answer “No”. I don’t think anyone can do this and succeed at it. However, I do think that everyone has a right to try. We can’t get frustrated with the new photographers entering the industry everyday because at one point in our own lives, we sat down and thought “Maybe I could actually do this! Maybe I could be a professional photographer!”. I had that moment when I was barely 20 and was still in college… for others, they are experiencing that moment in their mid twenties after not being able

How To Run a Business in College
college-business

I have

been asked on multiple occasions, “So how did you start your business while you were in school??”. I’ll be the first to admit that it wasn’t easy. However, in some ways, it really prepared me well for real life. I was living in a house with 4 of my best friends. We had the time of our lives in that little house!! There are only a few short years when you get to live with your best friends and have no responsibility other than writing papers and watching chick flicks. :) I’d say running a business in college prepared me well for the real world because even though I was young and

How To Shoot Bridal Details Consistently
video-wedding-photography-help

A long

time ago…. like a year ago I believe, I create a few mini videos for my website company Showit to use for a project they were working on. I recently realized that I NEVER shared them with my people!!! …. and that’s you guys! :) I receive questions weekly asking about anything from what I wear to weddings to how do you shoot bridal details and how do you do it consistently? This details question is a great one! It’s hard to shoot really awesome, cohesive details when you only have 30-40 minutes before the bride is getting in her dress! The trick it to think of a theme and stick with it. This is all because of the album…

What Lens Next?!
wedding-photography-lenses

This is

a reoccurring question that we receive really often and so I thought it would be helpful if I blogged about it! Every photographer goes through the process of buying new lenses and has to decided which lenses take priority over the other. For me, we hit a place in our business two years ago when I had all the lenses I needed/wanted for my “style” of photography. It took a while because they are pricey AND I didn’t know instantly what I needed. I LOVE shooting with prime lenses. I actually only shoot with one zoom lens for ceremonies and that’s my 70-200. I don’t even love it, I just know I need it for ceremonies in

Preparing for an Eshoot
ESHOOT-PREP

It’s

really hard to believe that I have NEVER posted a blog post about how to prep for your engagement session. To be honest, I think the reason I have never posted about this is because I have never needed to. My brides are really good about picking out outfits and letting their groom know what to expect. However, I have received several emails from other photographers asking how I prep my couples for engagements and so I thought a blog post may be helpful for not only photographers but for brides as well!
