The 3 P's of Posing
posing wedding photography

This post

could really be about 17 pages long.  We talked about “posing and creating an environment of confidence for your client” for close to an hour and a 1/2 at the SUGAR SHOOT! It’s impossible to cover what we talked about in one blog post. So, I’m just going to share the basics. Making your clients feel COMFORTABLE is SO VITAL to your business. They WILL talk about their session to friends, family, bridal party, etc and you want them to be praising your business. Your clients can very easily become FREE evangelists for your business….if they are head over heels in love with you, the way you make them feel and your images!

Shooting the Bling!
wedding rings vintage

The bling.

You have to do it justice! Have you ever had a BEAUTIFUL ring to shoot and you just can’t get it to POP and SHINE like you want? Ummm…this girl has had her share of fuzzy ring shots and I know how frustrating that can be! I’m still not a pro at capturing the bling but I have found a few little tricks that have really helped me recently. I’m currently at WPPI and I hate that I can’t blog as regularly but don’t you worry…. I’ll be back in the swing of things soon! For now, enjoy some quick ring tips.  When I first started shooting, I had a tiny little macro… I think it was a 50mm… I’m not really sure.  All I know is that it was awful and that I was struggling to capture great ring shots!

On a Wedding Day

there are so many things constantly running through a Photographer’s mind…. or at least there should be.  There should never be a time when a photographer has an extended period of doing NOTHING. Wedding day’s are too busy for that! There is always something that can be captured but so often photographers settle for doing the bare minimum. It’s easy to do when your feet are aching and your right arm feels like it’s about to fall off from holding up your 70-200 during a LONG ceremony. However, I have found that when you give it your ALL during the wedding day, the reward is great and your client is happy!

Finding "Your" Organization Style
photographer organization help

This process

took a long time. Finding a workflow that actually WORKED for me wasn’t an overnight concept. I tried numerous different techniques and I learned a ton a long the way.  That’s why I encourage all of you photographers out there to try to find YOUR OWN organization style because this is one of the many areas in this industry where copying may not be in your best interest. I say this because I experienced this! I had a TON of photog friends that fell in love with ShootQ and started running every aspect of their business through it. Brides can book online, contracts are online, etc….. and I wanted that! I wanted it all!!! ha! So I purchased ShootQ and starting playing

First Looks
weddings first looks for brides and grooms

First Looks.

….they might possibly be the best new wedding trend out there. When I first heard about doing a “First Look” I thought to myself…”that’s cool… but I’ll NEVER do it for my own wedding”.  Ohh I can be SO wrong sometimes! Not only did Michael and I share a First Look on our wedding day, I also encourage ALL of my couples to do one as well! First Looks are amazing and SO incredibly helpful to photographers! I have had several photographers ask about First Looks recently and so I thought that maybe I should do an Ask Anything post about them! I’m definitely not a pro at shooting them but I have had more couples
