whatever they wanted and so I agreed to meet them on the campus of William and Mary. Luckily, these two are alumni and so they knew their way around. I realized very quickly that there were parts of Williamsburg and the campus that I had never explored until last Friday!  As we shot in different nooks and crannies of campus, I came to the conclusion that I was very wrong about Williamsburg! There is still so much to be captured in that little historic town… I just needed to start in a new spot! Jared and Courtney picked the perfect location to begin their session and I couldn’t be happier with the results. These two are so sweet together and they made my job so easy. Between Courtney’s beautiful smile (and great outfit choices!) and Jared’s fun-loving personality, I left yet another engagement session being so grateful for the amazing people that I get to work with. I can’t wait to see these two again! Unfortunately I have to wait a YEAR to take more pictures of them!!! It will be worth the wait for sure! :) So enjoy some of my favorites and hopefully you’ll see why I love Williamsburg again!

The “Famous” bridge on campus! If you’re from W&M you know why this bridge is significant! LOVEEE willow trees!  Definitely a favorite!! Any couple willing to hop up onto a dirty old wall in their nice clothes are good sports!  Love this! Canvas?!  Courtney’s ring is AH-mazing!! Jared, you did well!! Love it!  Awwww One of the oldest building on campus… actually, one of the oldest buildings in the COUNTRY!

high school and thinking “Aw, now that’s a cute couple!!”.  Well, I was REALLY excited when Shannon’s stepmom (my youth pastor growing up) texted me and told me that this day was coming!! I started emailing with Travis and we came up with a game plan! We had a Plan A and a Plan B.  These plans were necessary because he was proposing in Maymont and that is by far the most popular park in Richmond. So when I arrived before they were on the property, I noticed that both Plan A AND Plan B location options were occupied. UGH! I racked my brain to figure out what to do. Travis was texting me to know what plan to go with and so I finally decided that I was just going to go up to some of the people sitting at the gazebo and ask them to move! Bold, I know. So I did just that and then I hid and started watching. Well, unfortunately, there were numerous people trying to take graduation pictures at that gazebo that day! Every time someone would walk up, they would hear a “Psssstt!!!!” from a girl in a hoodie who was hiding behind a bush with a big camera. I would motion for them to get out of the way and with strange, confused looks on their faces, they moved. Well, this worked for a while but then RIGHT when Travis and Shannon were walking up, two people went to the gazebo ahead of them. Travis and Shannon were too close for me to wave those people off but I tried anyway… no success. So Travis stalled and eventually, they were able to make their way down to gazebo and the rest is history!!!

Travis did an amazing job! After he proposed and Shannon was still squealing, he pointed over to where I was and there were even MORE squeals! :) It was so much fun being a part of this surprise!! I couldn’t be happier for this amazing couple!! Here are some favorites from the proposal!!

what I’m talking about… I’ll have to fill you in later. It’s a strange phenomenon that’s about to happen on the East coast and I’m praying it doesn’t interrupt our summer weddings!!

So it was last Saturday morning and I was up bright and early to drive to Mindy’s house. You know when you see pictures of people and you can just tell that they are super nice? Yea, that’s how it was with Mindy and Cody! I could just tell that they were such a sweet couple before we even met! Mindy was a little under the weather but she was still as cheerful as ever… even in the cold!! These two are just adorable and I loved getting to know them last weekend! Their wedding will be here before we know it and it’s going to be spectacular! You just wait! :)

We jokingly called our hummer adventure a “Safari” because the amount of wildlife we ran into was unbelievable! Wild turkeys, cows, clydesdales, red foxes, bunnies, deer and thankfully no snakes! As we journeyed over the river and through the woods (literally… we drove through a creek), we found some amazing locations for Jess and Mike’s images.

Jess and Mike are such a cute couple! They’re the perfect height for GREAT “nuzzling” shots… and let me tell you, I took a TON! They are so naturally joyful that taking their portraits was a breeze! I love this time of year because I’m getting to meet the rest of my 2013 couples that I have only emailed with up to this point. It’s so wonderful to leave an engagement session so pumped for yet another wedding!!  Jess and Mike, I’ll see you in the fall!! Cannot WAIT for the big day!

old mansion that is currently under renovation! It was awesome!! I met Stacey through a coaching session!! That seems like forever ago! We also attend the same church! She mentioned during her coaching session that she was engaged… and I said “Ok! You just let me know!”… and she did!! A few months after her coaching session, I got the “We’re getting married & have a date!” email and I was so excited for them! Seth is just the sweetest guy. So “go with the flow” and chill. We were shooting in the midst of gnats and high winds last Wednesday evening and he never complained! I have such great grooms. They’ll take portraits as long as their bride wants to because they know it makes her happy. :) … and I love that.
