I wish

I could shoot more of these sessions because they’re just so much fun… but unfortunately, I have to save my few extra evenings for just our friends and family’s shoots! Last Monday, it was Brendan and Rachel’s turn! We’ve known these two for a while and so when they asked about having their senior portraits done, we decided to do them on the same day and them have a double date afterwards! Our plan worked out and Michael was able to join us for the shoot and dinner afterwards! So this is Rachel’s post (Brendan’s is coming soon… get ready for that one:) and I just have to say

Some people

just have certain features about them that get noticed so easily.  You know the people I’m talking about. It’s the people always get compliments on their hair… or their teeth…. Or their TAN (I definitely don’t get compliments about my TAN… it’s non-existent!).  For me, I guess people notice my hair… that’s probably because it’s ORANGE! It’s something that sets me a part just a little.  For Alyson, it’s her EYES. This girl has some AMAZING eyes and I’ll be honest, I didn’t realize just how big and beautiful they really were until I was all up in her space taking her senior portraits!! When you’re taking portraits of someone and you’re shooting REALLY close, it’s easy

Let me

first start by explaining that as much as I wish this wasn’t true… I’m still not a portrait photographer. Because of the demands of weddings and engagements, I have stopped shooting portraits… except for my family and close friends.  I wish I could do it ALL but my schedule just won’t let me! (And my husband would actually like to see me every now and then! haha).  I’m still shooting senior portraits for the kids in our youth group because really, they feel like our family. We’ve been in Short Pump well over a year and a 1/2  but I think Michael would agree that it feels like we’ve known these families forever. Kelsey was one of the first high school girls

Growing up

in a small town and then going to a small school made it super easy for Michael and I to make friends.  We’re “People People” if that makes any sense. We’re naturally drawn to people and we enjoy having friendships with A LOT of people… maybe that’s why there were 400+ people at our wedding! AHHH! Crazy. Because we’ve been together so long…we feel like we have been collecting friends from every stage of life.  We have friends from our home church, friends from CNU, friends from our new church and friends from the photography industry. We love these people and we’re so thankful for the impact they have had on our lives.

I’ve always

dreamed of living on a hill. Like, a BIG hill….. a hill that is borderline a small mountain! I grew up living in the country and my parent’s house is on a small hill and I loved it! Whenever I travel over Afton Mountain, I just think of how awesome it would be to walk out on my front porch and be able to see for MILES and MILES! Hey, a girl can dream. Last week I shot a quick session for our friend’s Craig and Jessica in Crozet, VA. This little town outside of Charlottesville stole my heart. The rolling hills and old victorian style homes are breathtaking.  As we traveled down the country roads, we found a random
