Whew! What a

week/weekend! Between the earthquake that shook all of virginia and most of the northern east coast and Hurricane Irene making her presence known this weekend, I think mother nature should be exhausted at this point! I mean really!! A lot has been happening over here on the east coast! I shot a wedding this past Friday and I can’t tell you how many times I said a little “Thank you JESUS this wasn’t a Saturday wedding” prayer! We got lucky, so lucky. Shooting a Friday wedding was a lot of fun because I felt like a normal human being and had the whole Saturday OFF! Can you believe it?! I didn’t WORK on a WEEKEND!!

While I was

in Charleston, I had the honor of shooting some head shots for the fabulous Sarah D’Attoma. Sarah is a photographer based in South Carolina and she randomly asked me several months ago if I was ever going to be in the south… like the South Carolina part of the south. Welp! It just so happened that I was planning a little trip for Ryan and Rebekah’s session  and I was coming to Charleston! Perfect!! Sarah is wonderful. When I met her, she jumped out of the car with arms out, ready for a hug. (my kinda girl). Her energy is contagious and her smile is absolutely stunning.

When I started

My college adventure at CNU, I knew that I loved the campus and the people but I had no idea how much I would come to love Rosemary Trible. Rosemary is President Trible’s wife and she has such a huge heart for the young women on CNU’s campus. Over my four years there, we formed a wonderful friendship and I was lucky enough to photograph her 60th birthday. That seems like it was just yesterday!  The Tribles have done so much for us the last four years and it was a privilege to photograph their grandson Lochlan last weekend! Let me just tell you, he’s a cutie!! Barrett and Mary Katherine live close by in

It’s hard to start

over somewhere new… completely NEW. Michael and I got married and moved to the west end of Richmond without knowing a soul. Well, we knew a few people but as far as our church family, we knew no one. It was great for our marriage. We had never experienced anything like that throughout our 8 years of dating. Starting brand new can be exciting but also a little scary.  We came into this new youth group knowing that these kids had been through a lot the last few years.  Some of them had watched numerous youth pastors come and go, each time thinking that “this was it, this one is going to stay!”… only to be let down in the end.

You may remember

me blogging about taking our kids on Winter Retreat back in January. Well, if you don’t remember, you can view it HERE!  We took them to Watermarks Camp in Scottsville, VA and we love that place! Absolutely love it! Michael and I went there in high school and then led retreats there when we were in college and now we’re bringing our own kids there! Crazy!! And when I say “kids” … you should know that I’m talking about our youth group kids…we consider them to be part of the family! And speaking of family, we have loved getting to know the Watermarks family so much over the last few years!
