Blythe's Bridals

I’ve said this before and I'll say it again, bridals are a lot of fun!! No stress, no time limit.... it's just me, my brides and their closest friend or family. Blythe brought her mom and sister along for her shoot and I'm always so thankful to have another set of hands! We walked around the beautiful grounds of Tuckahoe Plantation and followed the golden light. We had a beautiful day for this. The temperature was bearable, the sun was shining and we had the venue to ourselves! Blythe couldn't have been more stunning and I'm so thankful she was willing to do some crazy things in her dress!! I mean, standing in a barn with a dirt floor and

running the risk of potentially stepping in sheep poop isn’t the most ideal location for bridals… but the light was so beautiful!! It was well worth the risk! I loved this evening I shared with Blythe and her family!! Now you can enjoy some of my favorites from her shoot!! Blythe you’re stunning! love this!!! Tuckahoe Plantation has the most amazing little spaces for portraits! so glowy! So beautiful Blythe!

Melissa's Bridals

Brrrrr…. this shoot was CHILLY!!! But you would never know because Melissa's beauty is the first thing that captures attention! ... No one notices the goosebumps! :) It was a chilly October morning when we shot these portraits and I was so impressed with Melissa's ability to shiver AND look natural all at the same time!! She's just stunning... absolutely gorgeous.... and she was my roomie in college!!! You're all probably thinking "Katelyn, your friends are so photogenic" and my response to that is "Yes, I know". haha They are! Whenever I shoot a friend's wedding I think to myself "Self, you are surrounded by gorgeous people in your life!"...

and not only are their exteriors beautiful, they are INCREDIBLE people with genuine hearts. I’m so thankful for my sweet friends and I’m even MORE thankful that I’m able to be a part of their wedding day!! Gosh I could go on and on about this! But I’ll refrain and I’ll allow you to see some of her bridals that were my favorites! As you look through these, be sure to realize that it was only in the high 40′s while we were shooting these. Melissa is TOUGH!! I would have taken a few shots and then opted for a fire and hot coco!!

Whitney's Bridals

Bridal shoots don't happen very often for me and so when I have one booked, I'm pumped! It's such a southern tradition and I know so many photographers in the Carolina's that shoot them for EVERY bride! It's a fun shoot but it does take some prep work for the bride and so I understand why most opt out of the shoot. I shoot bridal portraits on the day of the wedding but if you're wanting a canvas displayed at your reception, a bridal session is a must! :) Whitney's session could be described as "A piece of cake". Seriously! We shot this session in record time because we had a late start and the sun was setting FAST!

So I shot like a mad woman and she modeled like she owned Windsor Castle!! Michael came along so that I could work on the drive down and he brought Bokeh along. I have to say that Bokeh probably had the TIME OF HIS LIFE because we let him try out his first dog park! It was hilarious!!! He loved it! So while I shot these portraits, Bokeh had a play date. It was overall just a wonderful fall afternoon!!! Enjoy some favorites of this beautiful bride! Whit, you’re stunning!!!

Amelia's Bridals

The phrase "rolling with the punches" comes to mind when I think about Amelia. This girl has had some CRAZY speed bumps along her wedding planning journey and she just kept on going. Plans changed and new plans were made and her wedding day was perfect this past Saturday! So when her first bridal session got rained out, she didn't blink an eye. We just rescheduled and made it happen the following week! I met them close to where I grew up in Caroline County and we drove down some LONG dusty roads to find these locations. Now I've lived in this part of the country for 20 years.... and I have never even SEEN the roads we were on!

As I followed them down an old hunting path for several miles my thoughts were this: 1. The Toaster (aka my box car) is not going to MAKE it! and 2. Where the heck are we?!!!. We stopped at a cute rickety old bridge and began there. Then we proceeded to DRIVE OVER the rickety old bridge on to our next location! I’m just thankful I wasn’t in my old VW bug… that car was NOT made for off-roading bridal shoots!

Amelia’s parent’s joined us for this shoot and it was a fun evening to just relax and get excited for their big day! Amelia looked amazing and I squealed when she got out of the car with a beautiful hairpiece and ruffles galor! Enjoy some of my favorites and get excited to see their wedding tomorrow!!!

And just for humor’s sake…. this is me taking those field shots! Michael did NOT approve of this! The poor toaster had a rough day!

Mandy's Bridals

I feel like it was just last month that we were shooting Jill's Bridal session at the Farm. It's crazy how fast a YEAR can fly by! Now it's Mandy's turn and I'm SO glad we made this little shoot happen before their big day! It gave me a little taste of what Mandy and Josh's Wedding was going to be like and I couldn't WAIT! Mandy's details were insane! She worked SO hard on her wedding in the midst of Student teaching and graduating and to be honest, I'm not sure how she did it! Mandy ACTUALLY told Jill and I that she hadn't really done much for the wedding, just made a few things here and there.

WHAT?! I showed up to their reception site to help set up and just laughed! The room was FILLED with birdhouses, vintage glassware, strips of bunting and tons of flowers! Mandy did an incredible job and I’m so SO honored that I could document her hard work. He bridal portraits were amazing and I would photograph her every week if I could! She’s just beautiful. She has one of those “model faces” that is so intense and yet so “soft” at the same time! Does that make sense?? You look at these portraits and let me know what you think!!! Mandy, I just love you!
