Bokeh and the Balloon

It's the Little Things...

though he’s full grown and over a year and a half years old, Bokeh boy is still experiencing new things!! Friday night we had a birthday dinner for my sister and I blew up a few balloons to decorate with. I didn’t realize that one fell on the floor and before I knew it, Bokeh was having a ball!! He chased that thing for a good 30 minutes and because his little mouth isn’t wide enough to grab a hold of it, he didn’t pop it for a long time! It wasn’t until he got brave and started POUNCING on it that it finally popped! It’s amazing how one little thing can be so engaging to him! And when he gets excited about these

Yesterday

was a very important person’s birthday!! My little sister turned 23 yesterday and I still can’t believe she’s THAT old! It’s not really OLD…. but it feels old when you still remember someone as being a bleach blonde toddler who had the squeakiest voice known to man and a sweet little smile! Emily was a cutie when she was little and now she’s a beautiful 23 year old that’s doing incredible things with her life!! Emy graduated from Virginia Tech a year ago. I still feel like she should be in college!! Time is flying by! She graduated and really felt called to do ministry full time with CRU, a non-profit ministry that reaches college students.

The

new house has brought out the perfectionist side of me. People have asked “Are you going to show more pics?!” And my thought is, “Yes of course! …When it’s perfectly decorated!” … Well reality is setting in. Our last home was just under 1300 square feet. I decorated the whole place in one weekend while Michael was on a retreat!! It was so easy because I had tons of frames from college and it didn’t take much to fill up our little house. We like to use the term “cozy” when we refer to our first house! It’s not that our new house isn’t cozy…. it’s just double the size and so what I used to be able to do in a weekend is going to take MONTHS to accomplish!

It’s

JUNE!!! Is that not weird for anyone else!? WOW! May was such a fast month! We shot several weddings, traveled, moved and closed on our new house… it was a whirlwind for sure! We just got home yesterday from a lovely wedding in PA and I’m not flying out again until July! I’m really looking forward to being HOME… in our NEW home! I remember when my parent’s built their house when I was in middle school and after we moved in, I never wanted to leave! Everything about it was so exciting and NEW that I didn’t want to go anywhere else!

Growing

up we had two springer spaniels. They were so sweet and definitely had personalities of their own. We were expecting Bokeh to have a personality but he kind of blew us out of the water with his. Sometimes it’s scary how smart and animated he is. If we’re in the middle of something and he wants to play he’ll put a toy in his mouth and toss it at us. If we don’t respond, he’ll pick up the toy and will push it against our legs. If we still don’t respond, he’ll huff at us and then walk away and flop down on the floor. Recently, he has been acting like he needs to go outside and then when we get up off the couch to let him out,
