Ten Tips for a New Home Builder
TIPS-FOR-HOME-BUILDING

As

most of you know, we built a house last year!! This time last year they were breaking ground and we were FREAKING OUT!! So exciting and so overwhelming at the same time. We were such newbies and we learned so much through this process! We’ve received some emails from other couples who are entering into the home building stage and while we aren’t pros, we did learn a few things about the whole process!! We built with Eagle Construction in Goochland, VA and there were a few reasons we decided that we HAD to work with this company. Eagle’s floor plans were unlike anything we had seen in the area.

Snow Day

With Bokeh Boy

It’s

been a while since Bokeh boy has had a blog post to himself. I remember when we first brought him home, people told me that I wouldn’t take as many pictures of him once he got older and I’m determined to prove them wrong! :) I actually think that Bokeh is just as cute now as he was when he was a puppy! It’s a different kind of “cute” but it’s still CUTE! He brings so much joy to our lives and we’re trying to show him a little extra love since his grandparents just got a bichpoo puppy of their own and Bokeh has had a hard time with that. haha HUGE jealously issues!! He just loves his “people”

During

college I learned a lot of great things. I still remember some of my “Communication Theories” and a few of my many presentations from my four years at CNU. However, the most memorable and life changing thing I learned during my college years was the value of beautiful friendships. The friends that Michael and I made during our time at Christopher Newport University are friends that we plan on spending a lifetime with. They’re uplifting, life giving and we always leave our time with them feeling refreshed and joyful. You can’t find friends like that everywhere.

Portraits in Paradise

Here’s

the new Alsop family rule… when you’re in paradise, you HAVE to have some portraits done! I don’t care if we have to use a tripod and a “clicker”… I LOVE having portraits of us on our travels and I’ll do just about anything to get them! We should have warned Josh and Mandy about my picture-taking on vacations before we left. Actually, it’s probably a good thing that we didn’t because it may have deterred them. I have a problem with…. well….. stopping. Everything is so beautiful that I could shoot portraits ALL DAY LONG. It was almost overwhelming how beautiful it was!

Our Hawaiian Vacation

It’s

hard to believe that the trip we had been looking forward to for so long is over! I mentioned in the “part one” post that this wasn’t really a “Lay on the beach all day” type of vacation. We SAW a lot and we DID a lot! I mean, when are we going to be back in Oahu, Hawaii again?! Not anytime soon. This was a once in a lifetime type of trip. Two young couples with a week to explore an amazing island…it doesn’t get much better than that! We had an absolute BLAST and we fit as much as we possibly could into every single day! We’re so thankful that we have such awesome friends that make great travel buddies!
