I’m a Showiteer

……. what that means is that I belong to one of the most amazing, cutting edge website companies on the planet. But don’t think that’s all their is to it. Showit not only allows me to have a custom, totally unique site, they are also constantly providing me with new ways to promote and market my business. I have NEVER seen such a thriving, dedicated group of dreamers who’s main goal is to help others succeed. That’s the heart of Showit. Those that started showit and invest their lives into this company really CARE about the photographers they are reaching that it’s so powerful.

Legacy Wedding Albums

It’s Tuesday

and that means tomorrow is Wednesday…(I’m brilliant, I know).  So if tomorrow is Wednesday, that means I’m half way through the week…. and I haven’t gotten half of my work done yet! So…. today has to be incredibly efficient! I’m trying this new method of a to-do list where I schedule everything… if I’m not done with emails after an hour… the rest will have to wait until later. I’m trying to be strict!! Puppy potty breaks happen every hour on the hour and blogging needs to only take an hour and a half! GAH! So that means I need to hurry! I apologize in advance for my typos…. I’m sure my mother or sister will correct all of them when they read this post.

The "Production Wall"

Getting Organized

Photography ~ January 30, 2012

My office

has been a work in progress for the last year and a half. You see, when you run your business out of a DORM ROOM for two years, it takes a while to really get organized once you have a “big girl office”. I have filing cabinets and charts and places to actually DISPLAY my sample albums. Before I got married and was in college, I stored my whole business in a room smaller than most people’s walk-in closets! It’s amazing “Katelyn James Photography” didn’t shut down after year one!!  So today I’m showing my latest project that I have been working on recently. I finished my craft closet and now I’ve conquered the “Production Wall”.

A Year of Color

2011 Wedding Recap | Weddings

Color.

I love color!!! And I’ve realized this so much this year. I really didn’t think much about it until I started reading comments about how people enjoyed the colors in my images. After a while I realized that my color really does define a lot of my “style”. I like it BRIGHT!! And BOLD!  I don’t have a vintage-muted-faded- look. However, I do LOVE the coloring of film and there are times that I grow jealous of those photographers that can achieve those soft, muted tones. I grow so jealous sometimes that I find myself playing with presets to see if I can mirror their look…. but then I walk away from the computer and
