People ask

me this same question all the time…. “How do you keep viewers coming back to your blog”. Well, I think that there are numerous things that make a blog really work and succeed…. and one of those things is the PRESENTATION. Healthy, successful blogs almost always have a cohesive, professional look to them! That stuff is so important! I mean think about it, even if my pictures were pretty and my posts were interesting, do you really think you would enjoy reading them if my blog presentation was plain and unprofessional? I doubt it.

The Workshop Experience

The amount

of people I need to thank in this post is a little overwhelming! SO many people come together to make my workshops happen and every time we host them, I’m reminded that I could never do this on my own! I’m SO thankful for everyone who helped out. Vendors, sponsors, attendees, the caterer, the venue, my mother in law, Rebekah Hoyt, Jessica Beale, Michael, etc. Really, the list just goes on and on. I did a post a month or so ago with some behind the scenes images. Today’s post is showing off the styled shoot side of the Fall Workshop Experience and I couldn’t be more excited!! I honestly LOVE these images so much! Janie Medley from The Bride’s Cafe and Dana Fitzgerald (an incredible stylist!) joined forces once again and made this shoot come to life!! The Virginia Center for Architecture has never looked so BRIGHT!!

New Year, New Look

The Blog has had a Makover
new-look

This is

definitely a big season for KJP! So many changes are taking place and the most recent change would HAVE to be the blog’s new facelift!! You like?! It’s different but it’s still ME and I love it! Flosites do my blog design work and for those that have been asking about the backend of my blog, it’s wordpress. Basically, I have WordPress with a fancy exterior and a few special features! My FAVORITE feature about this new blog is that viewers have the ability to scan through previews of weddings by clicking “Weddings” on the top menu bar! So thank you for stopping by and if you have a free minute,

Coaching

January 2013 | Crystal, Erin, Judith, Christy & Elizabeth
COACHING-jan-2013

There is

one thing that photographers, for the most part, really don’t LOVE to do… and that’s get on the other side of the camera!! Every time I have a coaching session and we’re finishing lunch, I announce, “Ok, time for some headshots!” and the girls just give me a look like “Oh no, not that part!”.  No one is excited about the portraits!!! …. And I totally understand why. As photographers, we are SO comfortable BEHIND that camera. The thought of us being in front of a camera ia terrifying!! Oh the irony!! Aren’t we the ones who are suppose to make our clients FEEL amazing during their shoot? And yet we HATE having our own pictures taken?

2012 Money Shots

Engagements

Sometimes

when I shoot, I have these strange moments when I can FEEL that I took a great shot. Doesn’t that sound strange? I just get this feeling like “That one was a money shot!!”.  It doesn’t happen ALL the time but every now and then, I FEEL IT!  I think this feeling comes from pushing my own boundaries, trying new things, going for the “epic” shot and taking some risks. Just this past Saturday, I asked my couple to climb into some old john boats at the end of their portrait time…. was it a little dirty? Probably. Would the bride’s mother be freaking out if she saw her daughter sitting on a john boat in her wedding dress?
