people are just known for certain characteristics or features that they posses. It didn’t take long to realize that Lauren is known for her smile and her joyful spirit. Everywhere I turned, wether it was during the ceremony or overhearing conversations at the reception, everyone mentioned how Lauren’s joy and contagious smile!! That smile of hers went on for MILES this past Sunday! Morgan and Lauren have been waiting for this day for over 4 years and it was finally here! It was mother’s day and so the feeling of love and family was already in the air. I loved seeing SO many friends and family walk up the countryside to the top of the hill where they were to be married. The line of guests stretched all the way to the tent and everyone was so excited to be there. The weather was amazing the location was the perfect setting for Morgan and Lauren to tie the knot!

A Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden Wedding

are so many different wedding venues in and around Richmond! Michael and I love it when we have the opportunity to in our own city! This past Saturday, Michael and I spent the day with Mike and Kristin at Lewis Ginter Botanical Gardens. This is such a beautiful place for smaller, more intimate weddings. It’s also a really special place to me because this is the venue where I shot my FIRST real wedding almost 6 years ago! Crazy right?! I can’t believe I’m getting close to the six year mark!! I’ll have to do a blog post about how I’ve improved since the 2008 newbie phase because the images are as different as night and day!! I loved shooting at this amazing location and we were so thankful that the rain totally skipped over us! Mike and Kristin were surrounded by family and friends who just adore them. Something

that I LOVE about Virginia is that there are SO many incredible wedding venues. Even after 5 years of shooting and over 120 weddings, I’m still shooting at new venues every season and it’s so exciting! I had never seen the property of West Manor Estate until last Friday when I arrived for Tyler and Amy’s wedding day! Let me just tell you… it’s STUNNING! This venue is so well thought out and so elegant in every way. It was the PERFECT setting for Tyler and Amy’s big day. Friends and family gathered around the property and before we knew it, it was show time! Amy’s youth pastor officiated the ceremony and because Michael used to do youth ministry, I couldn’t help but think about how awesome that must be to be a part of one of your youth group kids’ weddings! So special!! Tyler and Amy are such a sweet couple that are loved by so many.

I Don’t

think it’s possible to find a bride more excited about her wedding and her pictures than Julie! This girl is the queen of planning ahead and making sure all of her little details are taken care of! Julie booked well over a year ago and immediately scheduled her engagement session. As we talked during her session, she explained that her wedding was pretty much planned…. a year in advance!! Ummm, maybe she should go into event planning instead of being an amazing food blogger and working a day job!! Julie is just incredible and I knew from day one that her wedding day was going to be such a joy to be a part of! Michael and I headed up to Raspberry Plains on Saturday and I just had a good feeling that it was going to be a good day…. and I really think that comes from having a great relationship with our couples beforehand. Julie and I have been emailing for so long that I feel like I’ve known her forever!!

A Mill at Fine Creek Wedding | Powhatan, VA

They

have been separated for a long time. Because of Josh’s job in the military, distance has become something that Katie is very familiar with. Josh has literally been a world away from her during different points of their relationship. I can’t even imagine how hard that must be. Because Josh is currently stationed in WA state, we weren’t able to do an engagement session…and you know I LOVE engagement sessions. They really help couples get to know me and get a feel for what it’s like in front of the camera! Well, Josh and Katie obviously didn’t need that practice session because they were PROS in front of the camera. I would be explaining a pose and then look up and they were already doing what I wanted them to do. AMAZING! Not only was their portrait time amazing.. their whole DAY was amazing! I just LOVE shooting at the The Mill at Fine Creek. It’s probably one of my FAVORITE venues in Virginia!! And that’s saying something because VA has some incredible venues!
