Tim + Mary Margaret

A Southport NC Winter Wedding

Sometimes

you just need a little break from something to really understand just how amazing it is. It’s not that I didn’t love my job during the middle of wedding season, I did!! It’s the best job in the world! But having a few weekends off to enjoy life, my family and the holidays was a such a gift! We celebrated Christmas and then we were off to Southport, NC to photograph Tim and Mary Margaret’s beautiful winter wedding!! They were married in the quaint little town of Southport, NC. This gorgeous place looks like it could be straight out of a movie!! Oh wait… it is! :) If you have seen the movie Safe Haven, it was filmed right there in the heart of Southport! So cool! I have to admit that as we were driving around and scouting locations, I couldn’t help but think “Josh Duhamel” stood RIGHT HERE!! Between the large trees and the beautiful southern homes with their large porches and columns, it was the perfect backdrop for wedding portraits!

Justin + Chasity

Punta Cana, Dominican Republic Destination Wedding

Today is

the PERFECT day to blog a beautiful tropical wedding because it is the furthest thing from “tropical” around here! It is nasty outside!! I’m curled up with my puppy, next to the Christmas tree and it’s pouring on this 40 degree morning. I’m secretly hoping it turns to snow tonight!! Michael and I were so spoiled this past weekend. We spent Thursday, Friday and Saturday in the Dominican Republic with a super sweet couple from Anchorage, Alaska!! Talk about a climate change! Justin and Chasity recently moved to Alaska for his job and they left sub-zero temperatures to come and get married in paradise! (Smart move!). It was beautiful, warm, and an absolutely STUNNING location to start a new life together!

Kevin + Anna Grace

A Waterfront Maryland Wedding

This

day has been SO anticipated for quite a long time!! The beautiful bed and breakfast overlooking the water was FULL of bridesmaids and excitement when I arrived!! I hugged AG and immediately saw familiar faces around the room. I knew it was going to be an amazing day and I was right!! Anna Grace is a photographer and graphic designer and so she MADE time for her pictures! It’s just incredible all that we accomplished before the sunset and Kevin is such a trooper!! I told AG just how lucky she was to have a guy that’s willing to take pictures on docks, in fields, sit in the grass, walk to the beach and pull off on the side of the road for portraits with a teal wall! Kevin just smiled and nuzzle her perfectly. They have SO many beautiful portraits! It was such a wonderful day! As Anna Grace walked down the aisle, tears were streaming down her face.

JR + Sarah

A Brandermill Wedding | Richmond, VA

As I

was creating this blog post… this very LATE blog post (I’m running a little behind today:)…. I realized just how many friend’s weddings we have been a part of over the last few years. As I scrolled through the bridal party pictures and the reception shots, I saw couple after couple that we have celebrated alongside of on their wedding days. It’s such an honor. Being with JR and Sarah all day was so much fun and let me say this, memories were made!! We were ahead of schedule and so instead of driving the bride and groom to their ceremony location, we made a little pit stop… to Chickfila! I mean that’s what everyone does on their wedding day right?! We stopped to get some nuggets and a milkshake for JR….and I can honestly say that it was a first for us! Only with friends will we do something crazy like that!!

Evan + Patricia

A Grey and Yellow Mechanicsville Wedding

It’s

a very exciting feeling to walking into a bridal suite and find out that all of the bridesmaids follow your blog! I knew Patricia had followed my work for a while but I had no idea that her friends did as well and so that was such a fun surprise! I love wedding days like Evan and Patricia’s! They know me and my work and so they ROLLED through their portraits because they trusted me! Their bridal party rocked and rolled through my cheesy poses in record time and that meant that Evan and Patricia had an amazing amount of time for their portraits! Talk about an ideal wedding day!! It was beautiful. 70 degrees in November? You can’t ask for a better wedding day! The leaves in central Virginia hit their peak this past week and so the colors were just amazing for Evan and Patricia’s big day!
