A Powel Crosley Estate Wedding | Sarasota Florida

After

my sister’s wedding in Lexington, VA, Michael and I packed up our second round of suitcases and headed to the airport to fly to Florida. Call us crazy… but this was the BEST weekend for my sister to get married! They were married on a Friday which meant that we had a full day to travel and recover before shooting another wedding on Sunday. It worked out perfectly! Michael and were able to get 8 hours of sleep Saturday night and by Sunday, we were ready to roll again! We drank plenty of water and headed into Sarasota to start photographing Drew and Becca’s big day!! The humidity in Florida was still a little bit of a shocker… my poor hair. However, it wasn’t too terribly hot and the rain held off for us almost ALL day…. we had the perfect conditions for a gorgeous wedding day!

Joe + Emily | Part 2

A Lexington Virginia Barn Wedding

The

forecast was calling for 30% chance of rain… but instead of rain, God gave us a large soft box for Joe and Emy’s big day. It was perfect. I remember waking up and feeling a little like I did on my own wedding day… I was excited but I also had a mental list of all that needed to be accomplished before hair and makeup arrived. Thank goodness we have amazing family friends that step in and help us James girls out on our wedding days! We couldn’t do it on our own!! If there is anything that I learned from my own wedding, it was that you have to let stuff go and trust other people to take care of things for you. So after working in the barn in the morning, I headed up to the house to shower and switch into my “Matron of Honor” roll. One by one, our vendors/friends started showing up and the wedding day was full steam ahead. Before I knew it, I was watching daddy walk Emy down the aisle…

A Big Spring Farm Wedding | Lexington VA

I don’t

even know how to begin this post…. because it’s the most important wedding that I have ever blogged. Today I’m sharing the first half of my sister’s wedding day. It seems surreal just to type that out. I mentioned in my toast that even though weddings are our LIFE, this day was so different from any other. It changes everything when you’re watching your dad walk down the aisle with your baby sister on his arm. It changes everything when you’re the one helping the bride into her dress and holding her train as she walks to her first look. My eyes are still puffy from all of the happy tears that were shed on Friday! I went through so many different emotions on Joe and Emy’s wedding day…. happy, sentimental, photographer-mode, overwhelmed, anxious, thankful, etc. It was a whirlwind!! I had many different roles and I wouldn’t have had it any other way.

Robert + Ashley

A Southern Hotel Roanoke Wedding

The room

was buzzing with chatter and excitement when I walked in. I always love it when bridesmaids come up and introduce themselves before I have a chance to because it’s just so welcoming! True southern charm! That could have been the overarching theme of this wedding day. From the coordinator to the parents of the bride and groom to the bridal party… everyone was so sweet and welcomed Michael and I with open arms. We absolutely loved this wedding day. The more time I spend around Ashley, the more I adore her. Not only is she radiant and beautiful on the outside but she has a heart of gold and Robert is one blessed man! These two met when Ashley’s family moved to Virginia over ten years ago and man has time flown by! Ashley’s dad toasted to the happy couple right before dinner and explained that it seems like yesterday that this little blonde boy showed up at their house.

Jared + Courtney

A Monogram Themed Williamsburg Wedding

She

emailed me a few weeks before the big day and her email had a few less exclamation marks than the one before. Courtney reminded me of a few last minute details for her wedding day and then proceeded to share that the LPGA Tournament was going to be happening at Kingsmill the same day as her wedding. What are the chances?! But because she’s Courtney, her tone was still upbeat and what she shared next completely melted my heart. She explained that even though the tournament wasn’t ideal, she had no doubt in her mind that we would take care of it and that her wedding day images would show no trace of the thousands of golf fans roaming the property that day. She trusted us completely and that’s PRICELESS for a wedding photographer to hear. I kept telling her, “Courtney, girl you are a dream bride!!” and it was so true. Between her love for southern details and her gorgeous smile, I was heaven!
