Ryan + Alina

A Mount Ida Wedding | Charlottesville, VA

I think

Michael and I have officially decided that the Charlottesville area is our favorite place to shoot! Hands down! It’s gorgeous, there is no traffic and it just never gets old! The valley is gorgeous and it’s a stunning place to get married. Mount Ida is quickly becoming a new favorite venue as well! This property is expansive and we feel so blessed that we’re able to shoot at such gorgeous venues like this! It was the perfect setting for Ryan and Alina’s big day! These two…. where do we begin. When I first met them for their engagement session MANY many months ago, I remember meeting Ryan and thinking “Oh Michael is going to LOVE this guy!”. He’s just awesome! And Alina is just as sweet as can be. She’s what any photographer would call a “dream” bride. I could have photographed their wedding over and over and over again!

Philip + Cheryl

A Willard Inter Continental Hotel Wedding | Washington DC

There

is always something going on in DC! Whether it’s a garden tour, marathon or protest, something is happening and people are always EVERYWHERE! It’s a fun city that’s full of excitement and while Michael and I aren’t fans of DC traffic, it was fun to shoot at such a gorgeous, historic location. The Willard is just amazing, and we were so thankful that everything took place in one location!! That made our job so much easier!! Philip and Cheryl actually found this location by accident! They had toured another local hotel and weren’t 100% in love with it and so they left a little defeated and just happened to walk through the Willard on accident! It was perfect! Philip said they knew instantly that this is where they wanted to get married and so Saturday, they did just that! They were married in a gorgeous ballroom full of cherry blossoms and candlelight.

Trey + Lindsey

A Tides Inn Wedding, Irvington Virginia

Wedding

season is in full force! We love April weddings because the heat hasn’t hit yet and everything is still in the process of coming back to life! Sure, the pollen and the sneezing aren’t ideal but I’ve missed the leaves on the trees! Trey and Lindsey had the perfect scenario for wedding day weather. It was raining south of us and so we just had light cloud cover all day long! God gave us a natural soft box so that I could have free reign over the property of the Tides Inn! We shot portraits on the dock, on the pier, on the beach, etc and never had to worry about harsh lighting. I love those type of days! I also loved this day because I know that Trey and Lindsey have been looking forward to it for so long. Not only were they coming together as husband and wife but they were officially becoming a family with Trey’s son Tanner.

Matt + Samantha

An Ashburn, VA Wedding
olive green wedding

We

met them for the first time in Laguna Beach, CA for their engagement session. We quickly fell in love with these two. Their story, their smiles, their joy…. we loved it all. After seven years together, Matt and Samantha became husband and wife on Saturday!! As we started shooting their day, I walked into the hotel suite, hugged Sam and then asked her how she was feeling. Her immediate response was “I’m just ready to see him”. This is understandable… especially for these two. Every moment counts. They don’t have much time together in this season of life because of Matt’s training and Sam finishing law school. Talk about a BUSY schedule!! They have a lot going on right now and so the moments that they do get to share together are so precious. Their first look was enough to draw tears. The way Matt embraced Sam after seeing her for the first time was so powerful.

Matt + Ashleigh

A Classic Downtown Norfolk Wedding

It’s

hard to believe that I’m blogging this beautiful wedding that was shot on a 70 degree day and it’s currently snowing outside!! What is up with this weather?! I’ll admit that I’m a little jealous of these two. Matt and Ashleigh are in the Maldive Islands for the next two weeks!! What an amazing honeymoon! They deserve an amazing honeymoon following their amazing wedding day. I’ve been looking forward to this wedding for several months now. I knew from the very beginning that this sweet couple cares deeply about their photography. It was an honor to be their photographer and capture their beautiful wedding day. As we walked out of the hotel for the first look, the warm air and soft breeze was a pleasant surprise. With the weather we have been having recently, Saturday was such a gift!
