Mike + Jessica

A Mount Ida Farm Wedding

As we

drove over to the house where Jess would be having her First Look with Mike, she told us that she has never experienced anything in her life that seemed THIS RIGHT. Sure, she was nervous and anxious but those feelings were stemming from pure excitement and joy! We talked about how surreal it is to see everything that you have planned for a whole year come to life in one day! The catering, the venue, the dress, the bridal party, the first look…. it was all happening so fast. Jessica and Mike shared their first look under a tree covered driveway at their ceremony venue and it couldn’t have been sweeter! By their excitement, you would have thought that they hadn’t seen each other in DAYS!! Their friendship and their connection to one another is just unbelievably sweet. As I coached them through their portrait time, I said that I didn’t even need to give them any instruction! They are just naturally photogenic and their interactions are so precious!!

Joseph + Perrin

A Wedding at The Mill at Fine Creek

As soon

as I met them at their engagement session, I knew that they were one of those couples that came into our lives for a reason. We were over booked for this year but we still had this past Sunday available. Joe and Perrin’s wedding just happened to be right the middle of our craziest season… #9 of 19 weddings in a row. Any photographer would admit that in the middle of a long stretch, you need something to inspire you and renew your love for your work…. Joe and Perrin’s wedding did just that. Their love for one another and everyone’s deep love for them was so thick in the air, you could feel it. These two have such an incredible story and contagious joy. As Michael and I photographed their amazing wedding day, I kept turning to him and saying “Don’t you just love them?!”.

Cliff + Laurie

Riverside on the Potomac Wedding

Rain

happens. It’s just one of those things that you can’t avoid and when it happens to show up on your wedding day, you just have to roll with it! Cliff and Laurie are so laid back that the rain on their wedding couldn’t have stolen their joy and excitement! If anything, they had a more intimate, personal ceremony because of the drizzle! We moved their ceremony to the barn where their amazing reception was located upstairs. Guests stood around the Chuppah as Cliff and Laurie promised to be kind, loving and to always be each other’s best friend. They also vowed to keep their home a happy, colorful and joyful place that is always filled with great music…. I loved that part. As we braved the rain for a few portraits in the field, I thanked Laurie for being awesome!

Seth + Stacey

A Rustic West Virginia Wedding

I’m not

sure how it happened this way but this month we have had TWO weddings in West Virginia! Crazy right? I don’t think I’ve ever shot a wedding in West Virginia until this month and I have to say, Michael and I are becoming pros at that northwest drive! We’ve learned that apparently drivers in PA need a ton of road signs in order to know how to be safe on the road. We’ve also learned that any road north of us is going to have a toll at one point or another! Last but not least, we’ve learned that north western VA, western Maryland and PA and North East West Virginia are all beautiful parts of the east coast! Just gorgeous! As we pulled up to Seth and Stacey’s wedding location, the views were spectacular and I was so excited for their portraits!

A Clover Forest Plantation Wedding

There

are a few venues around the Richmond area that I consider hidden “gems”. These properties are tucked away in little nooks and crannies of the surrounding Richmond area and they are just gorgeous. The Mill at Fine Creek is one of those venues and we’ll be shooting there this coming weekend and Clover Forest Plantation is another one of those “gems” that we love! I shot a wedding at this venue last spring and fell in love with the whole area! This gorgeous location is hidden in the rolling hills of Goochland and I was so excited to shoot Steven and Julie’s wedding there this past Saturday! Not only is the venue perfect but the weather was perfect as well! A beautiful 70 degrees and clear skies! I have found that the more weddings I shoot and the more I blog, the more brides I book that are very similar to me.
