Steven + Julie

A Clover Forest Plantation Wedding

There

are a few venues around the Richmond area that I consider hidden “gems”. These properties are tucked away in little nooks and crannies of the surrounding Richmond area and they are just gorgeous. The Mill at Fine Creek is one of those venues and we’ll be shooting there this coming weekend and Clover Forest Plantation is another one of those “gems” that we love! I shot a wedding at this venue last spring and fell in love with the whole area! This gorgeous location is hidden in the rolling hills of Goochland and I was so excited to shoot Steven and Julie’s wedding there this past Saturday! Not only is the venue perfect but the weather was perfect as well! A beautiful 70 degrees and clear skies! I have found that the more weddings I shoot and the more I blog, the more brides I book that are very similar to me.

Matt + Danielle

A Clifton Winery Wedding | Paradise Springs

I arrived

at Danielle’s parent’s house and needless to say, with 9 bridesmaids, there was quite a buzz happening around the house. Clothes were being ironed, makeup was being finished, and excitement was building. I made my way through the house and chatted with Danielle’s sweet mom who was just as calm as she could be and explained that she loved the commotion that was filling the house… because it wasn’t bad commotion, it was exciting! This was a big day for their family! Their only daughter was getting married to the love of her life! These two had waiting a long time for this day!! Matt and Danielle actually went on their VERY first date on September 7th, 2010, exactly three years prior to their wedding day. As Danielle walked down the aisle, you could hear soft sniffles from the pews that were filled with friends and family that love them both so dearly.

Ian + Jennifer

A Taproot Farm Wedding | Capon Bridge, WV

She

emailed me and said that she was getting married on her parent’s farm in West Virginia and I was so excited! I love weddings that take place at home! Our wedding reception was held in my parent’s backyard and I couldn’t have imagine it anywhere else. As Michael and I pulled up to the quaint yellow house overlooking the field where the reception would take place, it reminded me so much of our wedding day. Friends and family were running around prepping last minute details and as I talked to Jenny’s mom, she told that it took an army of friends to pull this wedding off. As hard as DIY weddings are, there is something so wonderful about getting married in a place that means so much to you. I loved seeing to-do lists around the house and I watching friends, cousins and other family members pitch in throughout the day. Their labor of love truly paid off because Ian and Jenny’s day couldn’t have been more beautiful.

Judson + Catie

A Farvue Farm Wedding, Goochland VA

As you

know from reading the blog and hearing about our life, Michael and I love looking at homes…. especially homes on the water. After building our new house, we have become even more obsessed with looking at impressive homes with gorgeous architecture. Our favorite homes are always on the water. I mean how amazing would it be to lookout over a river or a lake in your backyard?! So when we pulled up to Judson and Catie’s venue, I knew that Michael was going to love the view from the backyard! It’s just beautiful! The ceremony took place on the back lawn and the guests overlooked the James River as Judson and Catie were married. Everything was just perfect and went according to plan… except for the train that decided to roll past RIGHT after Catie walked down the aisle!

A Downtown Ashland Wedding

After

dinner was over at the rehearsal, one by one, different friends and family members stood up and shared just how much they love Brendan and Jenna. Groomsmen shared stories and talked about how much respect and love they have for Brendan and bridesmaids stood up and thanked Jenna for being such a trustworthy, intentional friend. However, they didn’t just talk about them separately. EVERYONE shared about how amazing they are as a couple and how they have learned so much from their relationship. It’s a beautiful thing to see two friends who everyone loves and admires, start a life together!! Michael and I just love these two. Brendan was in our bridal party and has been such a loyal friend to Michael over the last 5 years. Jenna has been a part of my life since I was a junior in college and she was a freshman!
