Meet Corey

My Little Brother isn't so Little Anymore
corey

Well this

is a strange post to write. This is senior session… but it’s not any senior… it’s my little brother. Corey is 6 years younger than me and I say he’s my “little” brother but that title really doesn’t fit anymore.  He’s taller than me and we realized several months ago that I have to start hugging him differently. I used to put my arm around his shoulder… now his shoulders are way too tall for that. He’s all grown up! If you’ve followed the blog for a while, you’ve heard all about Corey.  You’ve heard about his golfing, his dream of becoming a pilot , his first solo flight and how he serves other people like no other 17 year old I’ve ever met.

He’s an amazing guy… and I’m not just saying that because he’s my brother… even though I am VERY biased. Anyone who knows Corey would tell you that he’s a good kid. He’s just got his head on straight and loves his family and most importantly, he loves the Lord.  He’s passionate about things and when he gets his mind set on something… it’s SET. For instance, when he was reallly into his golfing phase, he built a putting green INTO HIS BEDROOM FLOOR and built a golf course in the field in front of our house (sand trap and all). When he first started getting into 4-wheeling, he wanted to be able to ride through the woods behind our house to get to his best friends’ house… but there was a creek in the way… so he built a BRIDGE. And then when he started loving those crazy remote controlled airplanes… after a few crashes, he decided to step it up a notch and start flying REAL PLANES! Ah!! Well he is just a few steps away from receiving his official pilots license and we couldn’t be more proud of him! Now, he can be goofy at times and I’ll never forget those years when he was super clumsy and fell/tripped over EVERYTHING in his path (we all have those clumsy phases Corey, don’t worry:)…. but he’s grown up so much the last few years.  I used to talk about him to my roommates at college and tell them about all that he’s doing.  I had a bad habit of talking about him and saying “aww.. Coreyyyyy. Such a little man!”.  Well that’s not really approriate anymore because he is a man. He’s mature and he’s respectable and he’s the best brother any girl could ask for. He makes Emy and I so proud and we love him so much. I can’t believe it’s his senior year and he’s heading to college in the fall. It’s going to be a big change for our family and I’m not sure how I feel about it yet. But like momma says, if we weren’t growing up and moving along in life… something would be wrong! So we just have to embrace the fact that Corey is about to enter a new phase in life and be thankful that he isn’t going to college thousands of miles away!!

So Buddy, I love ya. Michael and I are so proud of you and all that you’re doing. You’re going to continue to do amazing things and I can’t wait to watch your college years unfold!!! God has big things in store for you! Whether you’re flying in the coast guard or the pilot of a medi-vac helicopter…I know it’s going to be fun telling people what my brother is up to years from now!

So enjoy my favorites from Corey’s quick senior session that I shot over Thanksgiving! And thanks to the Beale family for always letting me creep around in their yard while I look for good light!!:)

One of my favorites! Those braces were worth it! Look at that smile!!
MONEYSHOT!!! Corey you’re so cute!!!
Corey’s girlfriend Madison! She’s cute too:)
And had to include one of my sister Emy because she’s pretty and I like this shot a lot! Profile pic!!!

When I was seventeen (many years ago), there was a great friend of mine from Winchester named Kevin James who looked amazingly similar to your brother, Corey. Kevin drove cars, trucks and motorcylces probably faster than Corey’s plane speed. Great pics, great young man….awesome family. Love ya’ll!

Man I am kinda sad that I fell asleep in the car when these were being taken…too much turkey. Awesome comment Greg! Corey you are a stud and not a little man any more. Thanks for being the brother that I always wanted.

I totally understand the weirdness of watching your sibling grow up. My little sister is 6 years younger than me too, and she’ll be a senior next year. It’s weird!

Love this shoot. Especially the first one of him in the black on the left, the smile/laugh one. Fabulous. :)

Such a sweet write-up! I love your seniors photography; you always tell such a great story about their passions and talents. So much better than standard one-size-fits-all poses. And your light…aw, the light!

Well…now that I’m done crying and can see my computer clearly, I can comment and say that Corey really is such an incredible man of God! You did such a great job capturing him in what you wrote and in the pictures! So proud of you Corey and all that you’re doing! I can’t believe how much we are all growing up!! And KK – you can come romp around the Beale Compound whenever you’d like! Love you!

My brother is a pilot – he now flies helicopters at the University of North Dakota. This posts reminds me when it was his senior year when he got his pilot’s license and was flying a Cessna. Skies the limit with these guys!

Love these! I also have a little brother who is 6 years younger and in Grade 12 (that’s what we call seniors up in Canada!!) I’m so surprised sometimes when I look at him, my ‘little’ brother is turning into a pretty great young man – so I definitely know how you feel!!

  17. dad: ( )

Wow. What a cool thing to have big sister, post younger brother and younger sister comment. I often say I am the most blessed man I know. Great blogpost. Love ya and am proud of you Corey keep pursuing God’s purpose for you. KK and Emy, love you both. Better stop or I’ll end up in Jessica’s condition. Cant wait for Momma to see this.

  18. Momma: ( )

Awe KK! You’ve done it again and made me cry. But it’s a good cry! I love this post, not just because these are great pics of Corey, but also because it includes all three of my wonderful children. KK, Emy, and Corey . . . you know I like it best when we are all together!!! Corey, I love you and am sooooo thankful to be your Mom – ma!!! Just had to add that, :) Keep God first in your life and He will continue to direct your dreams and goals. Can’t wait to take my first flight with you!!! Don’t know how I’ll decide on a favorite pic for that empty “senior portrait” frame on our stairwell!! But any of these would be perfect!

Its weird to have your little brother become your little but bigger brother! Great photos, I’ve always found senior boys to be challenging.
