If you’re a bride

like me, I had big dreams and huge ideas but no way of knowing how to make those ideas come to life. If I wanted gorgeous arrangements as my centerpieces, where do I order vintage birdcages in bulk? And where can I find large quantities of olive green moss…. not FOREST GREEN… Olive green. (I was very specific) I knew what I wanted in my head but it was really hard to find all the right pieces to make it happen. Finding local vendors that have creative vision and a love for trying something new is the BEST way to make awesome ideas happen!

I didn’t know about Shyndigz for my wedding but I did find out about this amazing local bakery in time for the Sugar Shoot! I called, told Nicole my idea, dropped off an image of what I wanted but I also said “You know, have fun with this and make it your own”. (Creative people LOVE it when they hear that phrase!). So Shyndigz took my design and transformed it into an amazing retro styled cake for the workshop and it was just recently featured on the Half Baked Cake Blog last week!

When you’re planning a wedding, it’s so important to find vendors that have a style that matches your own. If you’re a creative bride with funky, fun ideas…. Shyndigz is the place for you! I fell in love with their creativity and their unique style! I’m pumped to work with them in the future and if you’re not a bride and just LOVE sweet things….their cafe is open on Friday and Saturday nights. Yum yum!

1. Introduce your business! Where are you located? What do you offer? How would you describe your style??

Shyndigz specializes in one of a kind hand crafted specialty cakes for ALL occasions! We create custom cakes for every occasion from weddings to birthdays. We offer simple “bakery” style cakes as well.

2. Describe your FAVORITE cake that you’ve ever designed!

A texas style wedding cake! When the couple first met, the bride admired a sculpture her fiance owned. It was a custom made whimsical, old cadillac entitled “Tall Texan” with the groom and his dog in the front seat. She told him she LOVED the sculpture and he jokingly replied, ”one day, if you play your cards right, you might be in the passenger’s seat.”

She surprised him with a texas themed cake. Complete with spurs, cowhide, and the hand sculpted cadillac that I replicated with one exception: She was in the front seat with her vail blowing in the wind!!! :-)

3. If you could give a bride ANY advice about picking out her wedding cake, what would that be?

The cake should be a reflection of the bride and groom’s personalities! If they like peanut butter and jelly–we’ll make them a peanut butter and jelly cake! It’s their day and it only happens once!!!!

4. What are your favorite types of projects to work on? Weddings? Birthdays? Events?

I love to create any cake that is very personalized…..the stories behind the cake make the best cakes and the best memories!!!

5. Tell us about Shyndigz Cafe!

Shyndigz is where you can have your cake and eat it too! Our dessert cafe is open Friday and Saturday evenings from 5pm-11pm. It’s a great place to come for girl’s night out, date night or just to pick up a few slices and take home! It’s one of the many ways that we’ve tried to set shyndigz apart from the typical bakery. We are not a typical bakery! We focus on extreme cakes and delicious desserts! Starting in June, we’ll be open on Thursdays as well.

Their cake was awesome!!! They did such an amazing job on it – I love the photos I have of it!! I have dreams about it – I’m so sad I’m 4 hours away and can’t use them!

Not only are their cakes absolutely beautiful, they are DELICIOUS! Their Ghirardelli Chocolate cake is literally the best cake I’ve ever had. I go to their cafe every couple of weeks just for a bite of it.
Nicole and Bryon, the owners, are so wonderful and sweet as well. I can’t wait for the day when I get to work with them for a very special occasion :)

I purchased an online deal for Shyndigz and we used it last weekend to bring home a bunch of desserts. Wow! We were ALL impressed and wanted more. Great service, great food–we’ll definitely be back!
