and she’ll be starting her freshman year before we know it!! I’m sure Alia is going to read this post and think to herself, ”Ok Katelyn, you can stop now”. haha I brag about her because I really, truly think she’s awesome. She has such a sweet demeanor and it was such a honor to capture her portraits as she finishes up her senior year of high school! It’s going to be weird not having her around next year!! I’m going to miss her and her violin but I know that she’s 100% ready for the next phase of life! Alia I wish you the VERY BEST with your freshman year! You’re going to do amazing things girl!!

Coaching sessions allow me to meet so many awesome photographers from all over the place! In May, we had two coaching days with a total of 5 photographers. They came from Va Beach, the Northen Neck, IOWA and Northern Va! All of these women have different stories, different backgrounds and different experiences in the photography world but they share one thing in common… they want to grow their businesses. We chatted about dreams, discussed goals, cried over the tough parts of this job and then trespassed for some head shots. I’m super excited that the next coaching session will be at the NEW house and I won’t have to risk my life taking pictures on the side of the road! :) Anyway, I just loved meeting these 4 girls! Enjoy some of my favorites!

Everyone, meet Amanda Hedgepeth! Former KJ bride and the bubbliest photog you’ll ever meet! She just warms my heart whenever I’m around her! It seems like yesterday I was shooting a wedding in the dead of winter and this cute little blonde came up to me on the dancefloor and said “You’re totally shooting my wedding one day!”.  Well sure enough, I shot her wedding, watched her start her beautiful family & business and now I have had the chance to coach her!! So thankful for these relationships!!! Love ya girl! :) These two!! Oh they are cute as can be! The flew in ALL the way from IOWA!! Danielle and Jenny are best friends that work together in the photography world but are ready to break into something new and I couldn’t be more excited for them!! They have so much excitement building up for the future of their business and I can’t wait to see what happens! Ps. How cute are their dresses?!! Love them! Ow ow!!!!! Love it! Jenny I LOVE this one!!! Girl, I know you’re smile is your specialty but this model face is killer! I like this wide shot because you can see where we shoot!!

Meet Pearl! Oh she’s adorable! She grew up in Hungary and I could listen to her accent all day long! She just recently moved from Charlotte, NA to Northern VA and I’m trying to convince her that even though the traffic is bad, Virginia is awesome!! :) She’s relaunching her photography business now that her kiddos are older and I’m super excited for her!! Ps. I LOVE her style too!! So classic! And don’t you love that her name is “Pearl”?! It suits her so well:) Meet Ashley!! We started off the day together and I learned that she is a momma to 3 kiddos! How do you people do it!? I’m so impressed that she was able to spend a day with us in Richmond and focus on JUST her business for a few hours! We talked about the amazing parts of this job and also the hard parts…. because lets be honest, we all have days when this isn’t easy.  I’m excited for Ashley because she has so much amazing-ness coming her way. I can just feel it!

whatever they wanted and so I agreed to meet them on the campus of William and Mary. Luckily, these two are alumni and so they knew their way around. I realized very quickly that there were parts of Williamsburg and the campus that I had never explored until last Friday!  As we shot in different nooks and crannies of campus, I came to the conclusion that I was very wrong about Williamsburg! There is still so much to be captured in that little historic town… I just needed to start in a new spot! Jared and Courtney picked the perfect location to begin their session and I couldn’t be happier with the results. These two are so sweet together and they made my job so easy. Between Courtney’s beautiful smile (and great outfit choices!) and Jared’s fun-loving personality, I left yet another engagement session being so grateful for the amazing people that I get to work with. I can’t wait to see these two again! Unfortunately I have to wait a YEAR to take more pictures of them!!! It will be worth the wait for sure! :) So enjoy some of my favorites and hopefully you’ll see why I love Williamsburg again!

The “Famous” bridge on campus! If you’re from W&M you know why this bridge is significant! LOVEEE willow trees!  Definitely a favorite!! Any couple willing to hop up onto a dirty old wall in their nice clothes are good sports!  Love this! Canvas?!  Courtney’s ring is AH-mazing!! Jared, you did well!! Love it!  Awwww One of the oldest building on campus… actually, one of the oldest buildings in the COUNTRY!

that makes everyone around her feel welcome and after seeing her friendships grow over the last few years, I have come to realize that Julia is the type of friend that everyone would love to have. She’s patient, loving and she cares so deeply for her friends. I love that about her. :) I also love that she’s artsy and totally her own person!! Taking her senior portraits last week was a piece of cake because not only is she a beautiful person on the inside, she’s GORGEOUS on the outside!! During our time together we experienced some crazy things… like almost falling in the James River with my camera bag and  sliding down rocks. It was definitely an adventurous senior session but so worth the effort! I can’t wait for you to see some of my favorites!! Enjoy!!

And this is about the time I almost fell in the river… NBD.

I was so excited that I was around for this!! Not only did I get to take their pictures on my day off but our Moms came down and helped us pack up our entire kitchen and then we ended the day with dinner with friend! It was the perfect day off!

So Corey just finished his freshman year at Liberty and Madison is about to become a senior in high school. Even though Corey isn’t in high school anymore, he took her to her Junior prom and I have to say that that reminds me a lot of someone else. Michael came home TWICE to take me to my proms. They are such keepers!!

Corey and Madison have been dating for a long time and we’ve known Madison’s family for years and years.  We love her and we love how happy she makes Corey. :) And while it was weird to “pose” my brother and his girlfriend in ways that I normally pose clients… it was so much fun to take these pictures of them. I think it’s quite evident that they have fun together. :) So no wedding post this week… just some fun senior shoots and a Williamsburg engagement session…. but I thought I would start the week off with something a little out of the ordinary!! Ps. I’m obsessed with Madison’s DRESS!! I think you know why:)
