Last week after my surgery, my sweet friend Abby Grace texted me and offered to curate some blog content for my blog since I physically can’t blog like I used to. I’ve tried… but using “talk to text” takes forever because of the mixture of auto-correct and my southern accent!!! Most of you know that blogging has been the heartbeat of my business for years and years. I’ve blogged religiously every week since 2008 with only a few exceptions. Well, during the last two months, that all changed. Between doctors appointments, moving and finding out about my hand tumor and surgery, blogging just wasn’t a priority. It couldn’t be. Now I’m learning to function with one hand and I couldn’t be more grateful for Abby and her willingness to help us create great posts for our audience!

Our first guest blogger is from our dear friend Jasmine Star! Jasmine photographed OUR WEDDING back in 2010 when we were 24 and 22 years old. We were babies!! She’s been a source of wisdom, friendship and encouragement ever since and I’m so thankful for her!!! So enjoy this guest post from the ever-talented J-Star and be sure to follow both Abby and Jasmine on Insta and give them a virtual hug for being such sweet friends and helping us while I recover!

From Jasmine! Enjoy! :

I pushed open my bedroom door, dropped my bags to the floor, and flung myself onto my bed.  Then cried into a decorative pillow.

Does this sound dramatic?  Not yet?  Well, I let out a big scream for good measure in case you’re wondering just how crazy I am.

I had just started my photography business and I felt alone.  So alone my bones ached.  I didn’t know how/where/when to start and after a misguided business decision left me $657 poorer that afternoon, I felt desperately lost (cue decorative pillow cry fest here).

I knew I needed a mentor, but I didn’t know how to find one.

I reached out to a few candidates, but no one accepted my offer.  Then I realized that my “offer” was all wrong.  I needed to find a way to help THEM, far before they ever helped ME.

This video explains how I made that happen…

I encourage you to find ways to create VALUE and TRUST from those you hope be mentored by.  Remember, you’re uniquely qualified to share your gift and expertise, so step into the light.

Your time to shine has come.

xoxo, Katelyn

I love both Abby and Jasmine and discovered both of them because of your blog! I’m so glad they’re helping you out with guest posts! Also, I totally laughed out loud about your talk to text comment…it never understands my Southern accent either! Hope you’re healing well after your surgery! <3
