Hi there! i’m katelyn.

Hello, and welcome to the KJ Blog! I'm Katelyn James, and my husband Michael and I are a wedding photography team based in Richmond, Virginia. Michael + Kaitlin | Married

  • A Downtown Charleston Anniversary Portrait Session

There are just some people who make you feel like you’re on top of the world. They believe in you, they trust you and they are your biggest fans. Kaitlin is one of those people in my life. She’s literally my biggest cheerleader (besides my daddy! … and Michael! and Momma!) and she’s been encouraging us for YEARS! The first time I met Kaitlin, she was just beginning to pursue photography and she greeted me with a tight hug and tears. Those greetings haven’t changed… well, there weren’t any tears when we met up in Charleston but she welcomed me with a BIG hug and all smiles!

  • Ask Anything

When I was in college, I started off as an art major. Notice I said “Started off as”…. I didn’t graduate as an art major. Why? Well, there was this little thing called 3D design that completely turned me off to the entire degree! I can design one dimensionally…. but add two other sides and I’m sunk. I just couldn’t do it! I BARELY made it through Sculpture 101 and I knew that this wasn’t for me! It’s hard enough to focus on one side, much less THREE! There were times when I felt like I was really making progress on my sculpture and then I would turn it around and realize that I had neglected the other two sides!!

My Newest Resource for Photographers

  • The KJ Education Site!

It wasn’t good. Sure, it was pretty… and it was semi-functional… but it wasn’t good. It wasn’t what I wanted or what I envisioned. I don’t know what I was thinking!!
