Hi there! i’m katelyn.

Hello, and welcome to the KJ Blog! I'm Katelyn James, and my husband Michael and I are a wedding photography team based in Richmond, Virginia. Thankful for Our Puppy Sitters

  • Thanksgiving 2014

judge how quickly a year goes by by how quickly Thanksgiving and Christmas come back around. I literally feel like we were JUST at home eating turkey in 2013!! 2014 FLEW by and I’m not sure how I feel about it. This was a crazy and exciting year for Michael and I. We’ve traveled at TON, we photographed almost 3 dozen weddings and a pile of engagement sessions. We took some pretty exciting vacations and we marked so many adventures off of our bucket list. The thing is, every time we leave, that means we’re leaving the Bokeh Boy….. and we can’t leave him by himself.

  • Eric + Kayla | Engaged

Michael and I have known each other our whole lives! So that means that even before we dated in high school, our families knew each other. I remember seeing his cousins, grandparents, aunt and uncles around during the holidays LONG before we were a couple. After we started dating, I started going to Thanksgivings and family trips to Charleston, WV. I feel like I’ve known his cousins my whole life!! So when Eric brought Kayla to Thanksgiving one year, we were all really excited to meet her. Not only is she gorgeous, but she has a heart of gold!!

  • Party Barge Portraits

finally heading home! YAY!!! After two weeks of traveling, we’re excited to head back to our bed, see family and do laundry! Whew! Normally I overpack… but this trip is proof that sometimes all of my outfits are completely necessary! I think Michael is re-wearing clothes for the third time today! Yikes! We’ve been gone for a while and we have had such a great break from the day-to-day grind of emails, blogging, editing and more editing! In my opinion, a GREAT vacation results in a renewed energy to work again! I’m definitely feeling that… but I’m also excited for Thanksgiving break! :)
