Hi there! i’m katelyn.

Hello, and welcome to the KJ Blog! I'm Katelyn James, and my husband Michael and I are a wedding photography team based in Richmond, Virginia. We hope you grab some coffee (or a diet coke, in my case) and enjoy viewing our latest work, browsing resources for photographers, and getting a little peek into our life!  Read more...

Sneak Peek

  • The Australian Workshop

to believe it’s over! Just like that… our first international workshop is done and we’re currently in a hotel room trying desperately to get our checked bags AND our carry-on bags under the weigh restriction! (Because in Australia, your checked bag can only be 7 kilos! Weird!) It all went by so so fast… and since we’re in the midst of our wedding season, we have to come home too soon. But now that we have sweet friends here, we have so many reasons to come back for a visit!!!

Wifey for Lifey Hoodies! | A Lace & Loyalty Giveaway

  • Good Things

came in the mail last week and Michael said “Oh! I know what this is!”. I could tell by the tone in his voice that it was a gift! He handed the package to me and I opened it. It was a one of Lace and Loyalty’s adorable “Wifey for Lifey” gold foil hoodies!! I loved it!!! Michael is such a great gift giver. And he’s so good at keeping all of his gifts a secret! After I opened my new hoodie, I instagrammed it and people LOVED it! After realizing that how much everyone loved it, I thought “Hm, I’m a wedding photographer… this would be a GREAT giveaway!!!”.

A Cape May Vow Renewal

  • Mike + Kaitlin

People always say that they are going to hire us to shoot their vow renewal! A lot of people are joking… because really, how many people actually have the opportunity to have a REAL vow renewal?! Not many. For many, life is too busy and their desire to renew and recommit their marriage vows with the love of their life gets pushed to the sidelines. Work, kids and crazy schedules are legitimate excuses… but they weren’t big enough excuses for Mike and Kaitlin. They wanted this and so they made it happen! It wasn’t that they wanted a fun party, they wanted a WEDDING… a wedding and a celebration that they didn’t have before. Kaitlin is a successful photographer in Cape May and after 3 years of photographing beautiful weddings, it was finally her turn! It was her turn to be photographed getting into her dress, her turn to share a first look with her husband of 5 years and her turn to have romantic portraits taken with her husband.
