A Lexington Virginia Barn Wedding

  • Joe + Emily | Part 2

The forecast was calling for 30% chance of rain… but instead of rain, God gave us a large soft box for Joe and Emy’s big day. It was perfect. I remember waking up and feeling a little like I did on my own wedding day… I was excited but I also had a mental list of all that needed to be accomplished before hair and makeup arrived. Thank goodness we have amazing family friends that step in and help us James girls out on our wedding days! We couldn’t do it on our own!! If there is anything that I learned from my own wedding, it was that you have to let stuff go and trust other people to take care of things for you. So after working in the barn in the morning, I headed up to the house to shower and switch into my “Matron of Honor” roll. One by one, our vendors/friends started showing up and the wedding day was full steam ahead. Before I knew it, I was watching daddy walk Emy down the aisle…

A Big Spring Farm Wedding | Lexington VA

  • Joe + Emily | Part 1

I don’t even know how to begin this post…. because it’s the most important wedding that I have ever blogged. Today I’m sharing the first half of my sister’s wedding day. It seems surreal just to type that out. I mentioned in my toast that even though weddings are our LIFE, this day was so different from any other. It changes everything when you’re watching your dad walk down the aisle with your baby sister on his arm. It changes everything when you’re the one helping the bride into her dress and holding her train as she walks to her first look. My eyes are still puffy from all of the happy tears that were shed on Friday! I went through so many different emotions on Joe and Emy’s wedding day…. happy, sentimental, photographer-mode, overwhelmed, anxious, thankful, etc. It was a whirlwind!! I had many different roles and I wouldn’t have had it any other way.

A Gift for Emy

  • The Secret is Out

At my wedding, my baby brother was Michael’s best man. I remember when Michael told me he was going to ask Corey to fill that role and I got all teary. Corey and Michael have been buds since Corey was a little guy. Corey looked great standing beside Michael at the front of the church and I’ll never forget how special it was to have my sister as my maid of honor and my little brother as the best man… the only member of our family that wasn’t standing at the altar was my poor momma because my dad officiated our ceremony!! :) We had an AWESOME wedding day and Corey had fun but he was stressed the whole time
