Finding My Strength

  • The Best Way to Start a Monday

This past weekend Michael and I had the privilege of going back to our home church and sharing about what God is doing in our business. My dad asked us if we would be a part of their recent series about living for Christ outside the walls of the church and of course we said yes! What an honor! Our home church is where we and grew up, where we spent our early dating years, where he proposed and where we got married! There are so many sweet memories at that church.

HOW TO SHOOT WITH FLASH IN A BARN

  • Ask Anything

It’s no secret that I don’t LOVE flash photography. However, I know that I need to constantly push myself to get better at it. Over the years I have learned so much about how to manage my flash and make it work for me. I have learned how to re-create my own natural light style with flash instead of sunlight. This may not be the “technically correct” way of shooting receptions but to be honest, I have literally heard DOZENS of different approaches to shooting this part of the day. If they are creating gorgeous, high quality images, then how can they be “wrong”?

Work from Rest, Rest from Work

  • Enjoying the Down Time

Work from rest and rest from work. We’re not perfect at it but we’re trying to get better at making time to have fun and get away from the laptop. This weekend we fly to Illinois to speak at the Reset Conference and then we headed to Big Spring Farm for a few days. It’s amazing what 2-3 days of minimal working can do for the soul. We all need that. Michael and I know that we need to work on our “resting” skills. It really doesn’t come natural for me….. but the past 3 days were proof that I’m getting better… little by little! :)
