…experienced you are, if you’re a photographer and another photographer asks you to shoot his/her wedding, you get a little nervous. What an honor! Chris called me last fall and asked if I would shoot their wedding and of course I was thrilled! ….. but nervous. Chris and I met years ago when Michael and I were visiting friends at Clemson. One of our groomsmen in our wedding was roommates with Chris and so Chris and I had several opportunities to talk camera talk and all that nerdy stuff. The funny thing is that I specifically remember Chris asking me if I had every considered doing photography professionally…and my response was… wait for it… “Uh…No, I don’ t really enjoy shooting people”.
I miss college. I don’t miss the classes or the papers or the stress, just the people… those amazing people. I have heard that you meet the most amazing friends in college and that was so true for Michael and I. Our friends feel like our family and we consider them family. College for us wasn’t just about hanging out and having a good time, we formed relationships with people that we know we’re going to keep in touch with forever. I mean that. F-O-R-E-V-E-R. He shows up in the best of the best portraits, in the detail shots, bridal party shots. Any GOOD shot has to have a little bit of “The Line”. Some other photographers have emailed me about composition and visualizing shots beforehand and really, I just depend on the two “L’s”… The LIGHT and the LINE. Light is a whole other concept that we could spend years and years discussing.
…this summer’s theme is HOTT. Just plain HOTT! Sunday, as I was driving to the Founder’s Inn, I looked at my thermometer in my car and it hit the triple digits. As I sat on 64, I slouched in my seat and prayed 1. That my car would make it! (I don’t understand how they run in 100+ degree weather sometimes) and 2. That I would survive this outdoor ceremony and that the guests would too! Well, I arrived and was informed that everything had been moved inside because of the intolerable heat wave! woohoo! I was so relieved! Although Karynne had dreamed of an outdoor garden wedding, having it indoors was such a smart decision! …. and it was still gorgeous! Josh and Karynne have one of the most interesting stories! When we met …
