Hi there! i’m katelyn.

Hello, and welcome to the KJ Blog! I'm Katelyn James, and my husband Michael and I are a wedding photography team based in Richmond, Virginia. A Winston Salem Engagement Shoot

  • Ryan + Megan | Engaged

again, we lucked out with the weather. Michael and I drove down to Winston Salem, NC on Thursday to meet this sweet couple AND grab dinner with our mutual friends and past KJ Couple, Joseph and Casey!! Talk about a fun engagement shoot!! We shot up and down the streets of old town Winston Salem. This little area looks exactly like Williamsburg! Historic homes, beautiful porches, old wooden barns… it was gorgeous! As we strolled up and down the streets, I had a chance to get to know Megan and Ryan!

A Classic Downtown Norfolk Wedding

  • Matt + Ashleigh

It’s hard to believe that I’m blogging this beautiful wedding that was shot on a 70 degree day and it’s currently snowing outside!! What is up with this weather?! I’ll admit that I’m a little jealous of these two. Matt and Ashleigh are in the Maldive Islands for the next two weeks!! What an amazing honeymoon! They deserve an amazing honeymoon following their amazing wedding day. I’ve been looking forward to this wedding for several months now. I knew from the very beginning that this sweet couple cares deeply about their photography. It was an honor to be their photographer and capture their beautiful wedding day. As we walked out of the hotel for the first look, the warm air and soft breeze was a pleasant surprise. With the weather we have been having recently, Saturday was such a gift!

Raleigh, NC

  • CLIC Conference Recap

truly love this season of our life and our business. Having the opportunity to speak and share our hearts for this industry is such an honor. I don’t take it lightly. Whether it’s 5 people or 500, it’s a privilege to be asked to speak somewhere! As I was preparing my talk for the CLIC Conference that took place last Friday and Saturday, I realized just how AWESOME this was going to be. Not my talk…. the conference! That came out wrong! The CONFERENCE was going to be amazing because to my knowledge, there has never been a photography conference quite like this for women in this area. What a treat this was!
