A Year in Review

  • Best of Engagements 2013

You saw my “Best of Weddings 2013”. Today I’m posting the “Best of Engagements”! It’s really interesting to think about what I consider a “good image” these days. My goal several years ago was to define my style more and more with every shoot. Engagement sessions were my time to do that. During an eshoot I have control, time, and complete freedom to be creative. Well now that I have a pretty defined style, the challenge is to continue to perfect my work without growing stale…. and that’s actually very hard to do. I know the formula.

  • Best of Weddings 2013

Here it is! The biggest post of the year…and this post will probably crash my blog because there are WAY too many images included!! I just couldn’t pick one favorite from each wedding… that’s way too hard! So I have selected and gathered all of the images that make me FEEL something! These are the images that made me proud this past year. And while some may seem ordinary to you, they all have a special place in my heart for random reasons! Maybe it was the composition, the light or even the situation it was shot in. Whatever it was, somehow these images made my “Favorites” list for 2013 and I can’t wait to share this pretty post! Enjoy!!

A Southport NC Winter Wedding

  • Tim + Mary Margaret

Sometimes you just need a little break from something to really understand just how amazing it is. It’s not that I didn’t love my job during the middle of wedding season, I did!! It’s the best job in the world! But having a few weekends off to enjoy life, my family and the holidays was a such a gift! We celebrated Christmas and then we were off to Southport, NC to photograph Tim and Mary Margaret’s beautiful winter wedding!! They were married in the quaint little town of Southport, NC. This gorgeous place looks like it could be straight out of a movie!! Oh wait… it is! :) If you have seen the movie Safe Haven, it was filmed right there in the heart of Southport! So cool! I have to admit that as we were driving around and scouting locations, I couldn’t help but think “Josh Duhamel” stood RIGHT HERE!! Between the large trees and the beautiful southern homes with their large porches and columns, it was the perfect backdrop for wedding portraits!
