HEADSHOT 1-8478

Hi there! i’m katelyn.

Hello, and welcome to the KJ Blog! I'm Katelyn James, and my husband Michael and I are a wedding photography team based in Richmond, Virginia. We hope you grab some coffee (or a diet coke, in my case) and enjoy viewing our latest work, browsing resources for photographers, and getting a little peek into our life!  Read more...

But also a day to be thankful!

  • Sick Day

Today is a sick day. I’m not deathly ill… just a cold. But it’s one of those colds that leaves you feeling absolutely horrible in the mornings and then you feel close to normal by 10am but all you want to do is sit on the couch wrapped up in a blanket!! As I got up in the middle of the night to blow my nose, take more tylenol and try to fall back asleep. I became SO thankful that I’m not one to get sick very often. This happens about twice a year and that’s the extent of my “sickness”. I have a pretty good immune system considering all of the traveling we do and our seasons where we lack sleep!

  • Featured

really been behind with these “featured” posts this year! I figured I better do this now before it’s 2014!!!! I can’t believe we’re so close to a new year! That just blows my mind! Time flies by so fast these days and I can’t say that I love it. I want it to be Christmas season for like two months!! Anyway, today we have coaching and I think we’re going to freeze our bums off during the “headshot” portion of the day! :) Wish us luck!!

Punta Cana, Dominican Republic Destination Wedding

  • Justin + Chasity

Today is the PERFECT day to blog a beautiful tropical wedding because it is the furthest thing from “tropical” around here! It is nasty outside!! I’m curled up with my puppy, next to the Christmas tree and it’s pouring on this 40 degree morning. I’m secretly hoping it turns to snow tonight!! Michael and I were so spoiled this past weekend. We spent Thursday, Friday and Saturday in the Dominican Republic with a super sweet couple from Anchorage, Alaska!! Talk about a climate change! Justin and Chasity recently moved to Alaska for his job and they left sub-zero temperatures to come and get married in paradise! (Smart move!). It was beautiful, warm, and an absolutely STUNNING location to start a new life together!
