Hi there! i’m katelyn.

Hello, and welcome to the KJ Blog! I'm Katelyn James, and my husband Michael and I are a wedding photography team based in Richmond, Virginia. We hope you grab some coffee (or a diet coke, in my case) and enjoy viewing our latest work, browsing resources for photographers, and getting a little peek into our life!  Read more...

Registration is LIVE

  • Fall 2013 Workshop

today blow me away. There are no words to express how thankful and I excited I am to be hosting our new style of workshops in our new home! And realizing that a lot of other photographers are excited as well is just icing on the cake! The workshop registration went live at 9:30 this morning to all of my newsletter friends and we are sold out. I’m so pumped to share two days with these 12 photographers in our home, talking about all things photo and business!! Because of the interest, we’ll **hopefully** be hosting another Workshop in November

A Washington DC Waterfront Wedding

  • Kevin + Maris

July here and we’re definitely feeling it in Virginia. The humidity is high and the temperatures are even higher! Michael and I have 3 weddings this month and I’m so SO thankful that our three couples for the hottest month of the year are easy going and 100% on board with taking portraits outside…. even if it’s 100 degrees! Kevin and Maris and their entire bridal party are amazing. It was hot and sticky and they still had great attitudes when it came time for their portraits! After shooting Kevin and Maris’s engagement session, I knew that they would be fun to work with on their wedding day and I was right! They’re such a sweet couple with a super fun group of friends that surrounded them on their wedding day. As toasts were shared at the reception, it was obvious that Kevin and Maris are well loved by their friends and family. Family came from all over the country to celebrate with these two!

Re-Vamped!

  • The Workshop Experience

ever envisioned something and then dreamed about it, wondering if one day it would come to fruition? My business has been through many seasons of that. Some things have happened and some dreams are still left to accomplish. There was a night last fall when I stayed up until almost 3am contemplating my workshops and what I wanted them to look like in the future. I LOVE my workshops! They are so much fun and I still keep in touch with attendees… even some that came 3 years ago! It’s very much a “Family” style experience when you gather a group of photographers together for one day to learn and grow!
