Hi there! i’m katelyn.

Hello, and welcome to the KJ Blog! I'm Katelyn James, and my husband Michael and I are a wedding photography team based in Richmond, Virginia. ALL DOWNLOADABLE RESOURCES ON SALE!

  • Black Friday Sale!

This announcement is a little premature… but we wanted to give you a heads up! The ENTIRE STORE will be ON SALE, ON BLACK FRIDAY! Every DOWNLOADABLE educational resource will be discounted heavily! This INCLUDES the popular KJ Bridal Guide! This guide is how we train and educate our brides on how to have a stress-free and photography-friendly wedding day! It’s a game changer that transformed how our wedding days run! Once we saw the impact it was having on our clients, we made it available to ANY PHOTOGRAPHER! It took me over two years to make…. and let me tell you …. that is NOT the way to go.

The House Plans

  • Our Contemporary Farmhouse

We have had so many requests to share our house plans and so today is the day! We can’t share high-res, super detailed plans simply because plans and designs cost money, and we don’t want to get in trouble with our architect and draftsmen! You may have heard us share on our pregnancy announcement video that we are building the SAME HOUSE that we built 3.5 years ago. Before you think we’re crazy, let me explain our thought process. So first of all, our house didn’t sell for over 10 months. We thought that we would be building over a year ago, but God had different plans!

We Made It!

  • The Crazy is Pretty Much Over!

We got home last night after two weeks of craziness. We committed to a lot the first two weeks in November, and all of those commitments were made BEFORE we got pregnant. In our minds, we knew that if we could make it through October, and then the first two weeks of November, we would be ok. That was the goal! The light at the end of the tunnel! We love attending conferences and being with sweet friends. It’s one of our favorite things about this crazy life that we’ve been given. However, this conference season happened in the midst of one of our busiest seasons to date.
