  • The New House

that the next time I blogged about the new house project, we would actually have a HOUSE! …. and I wasn’t lying! It’s here!!! I can’t believe it but it’s all framed and the majority of the windows are in! If the rain holds out today, we’ll probably see shingles by tomorrow! It’s a CRAZY feeling to watch a house start to take shape…. it’s even crazier when it’s YOURS and you’ve never done this before. When they were framing it and the trusses were being set, It seemed so surreal. The pictures really don’t do it justice. We are so thankful that we’ve been around the last 3 weeks and have been able to take daily visits!! Everyday there is something NEW!

Here it is…. my first, somewhat in depth post about editing. It’s not that I don’t want to share how I edit, I really don’t mind at all. HOWEVER, I am fearful of showing newer photographers EXACTLY what I do because part of the development of my style came from learning on my own. When I first started shooting, someone told me about ACTIONS. They were magical to me. Absolutely magical.   • The Workshop Experience

is something that I realized when I was preparing for the spring Workshop Experience that took place on Friday. I was refreshing my presentation and I realized that this was my 5th LARGE scale workshop in the last 2 years. There was a day when the simple thought of teaching someone else was so intimidating to me. There was also a day when photographing a wedding was something that made me lose sleep at night. I’ve realized that the BIG things that used to be so intimidating and scary to me have now become the new normal for me. And when the big things become normal, your standards become higher and your dreams get a little crazier.
