Hello, and welcome to the KJ Blog! I'm Katelyn James, and my husband Michael and I are a wedding photography team based in Richmond, Virginia. October 2012

  • Coaching

You’re probably thinking “Where’s the TUESDAY wedding post”?! Why isn’t there a new WEDDING?!! Well, I’m in NYC shooting an engagement session as you read this and if I’m being completely honest, I stayed up and tried to hammer it out but Matt and Callie deserve a non-rushed, beautiful blog post AND I need some sleeeeep! So since I’m so late posting these fun Coaching session shots, I feel like they would be the perfect post!!  I just finished NOVEMBER’S coaching session today and I have to say that I literally love them SO so much! I wish I could do them every week!!

A Fawn Lake Engagement | Fredericksburg Wedding Photographer

  • Travis + Amy | Engaged

on this blog post and listening to CHRISTMAS music!! Is it too early for that?? ha! I seriously love this time of year…. especially in Virginia. The colors around here are amazing… even after a hurricane!! Michael and I met Travis and Amy at her parent’s home on Fawn Lake in Fredericksburg for their eshoot last week and we were pleasantly surprised that Sandy’s wrath didn’t make a huge impact on the backyard!  It was a great location for their engagement shoot!! It was almost surreal being there because Amy is one of our sweet CNU friends and I remember being a little college freshman

A Harrisonburg Engagement Shoot

  • Heath + Courtney | Engaged

I have a fun fall engagement to share with you!! Heath and Courtney’s images are full of color and I’m excited to share them!! We met on JMU’s campus last Friday and it became very obvious that we were brave. It was homecoming weekend. Who tries to shoot on campus on Homecoming weekend? We do! I think I’ve mastered the art of hiding students that are passing by while we’re shooting!! It’s like a sixth sense! We shot on the beautiful grounds of JMU and then we headed over to JMU’s Arboretum! Hello amazing colors!!! It was gorgeous. As we made our way around the pond, we talked about the wedding and their story, etc, etc.
