4 Months Later

  • Life After Losing Baby James

You know, it’s hard to believe that in a week and a half it will have been four months since we lost our baby boy. In some ways it feels like yesterday, and in other ways it feels like that season of our life happened two years ago. I’m currently sitting at my desk in my office typing this, and I vividly remember what it was like to be sitting in this same seat but feeling a baby move and being so huge that I had to reach to touch the keyboard. I wrote A LOT during my season carrying James. Sometimes it was in my journal, and sometimes it was on an Evernote document where I wrote out every step of the journey. I’m so thankful that I did that.

  • A Summery Engagement Shoot in Church Hill | Virginia Wedding Photographer

Anytime that we’re shooting in the late summer I’m always praying for a little relief from the heat. It’s HOT in Virginia in July and August. Thankfully, Tori and Logan chose Libby Park for their portraits and there was an amazing breeze that broke up the intense August humidity!! We weren’t the only ones taking advantage of the beautiful location and perfect light. We passed THREE different photographer friends during this shoot!! It was a fun evening capturing this exciting new season in Tori and Logan’s lives, but it was also so great just getting to know them even better.

Ten Years Later

  • Happy 10th Anniversary to KJP!

Can you believe it? Ten years…. it has been a DECADE since I bought a little Canon Rebel xti and started taking pictures of my college friends around campus. It’s been ten years since I had a dream of actually charging someone for portraits and learning how to shoot completely manually. It’s been a decade of learning, growing, and working REALLY…. REALLY… REALLY hard. Sometimes when people find me online for the first time, I’ll receive questions like….
