Bokeh Boy

& Why We're Bad Puppy Parents
bokeh-bad-parents

We are

on our way home today from the amazing CONNECT Retreat in Roma, GA and while I’m excited to be home, I feel a little guilty at the same time. We dropped Bokeh boy off with his grandparents, AGAIN last friday. We shot a wedding in DC and then flew out the next day for the retreat. We get home tonight and shoot a wedding tomorrow and we won’t see Bokeh boy until SATURDAY night!!! Ugh!! We’re such bad puppy parents!!! There are times when I think he forgets who his real parents are…obviously that would be us. :) He spends a lot of time with his grandparents and we’re SO thankful that they are just 50 minutes up the road!

Mount Ida Farm Wedding Photographer

I have

decided that if I didn’t love Richmond so much, I would move to Charlottesville in a heartbeat! The rolling hills outside of that adorable city are just stunning! Tucked away on 6,000 acres is the historic Mount Ida Farm! This property is the largest privately owned stated in Virginia! Talk about impressive! It’s so gorgeous. The coordinator and property manager for Mount Ida loaded Mike, Jess and I up into a massive hummer and we toured the property for their engagement shoot! I’m so thankful that we had a guide throughout this property because there is just SO much land! I wouldn’t have known where to even begin!!

Raspberry Plains Wedding Photographer

I Don’t

think it’s possible to find a bride more excited about her wedding and her pictures than Julie! This girl is the queen of planning ahead and making sure all of her little details are taken care of! Julie booked well over a year ago and immediately scheduled her engagement session. As we talked during her session, she explained that her wedding was pretty much planned…. a year in advance!! Ummm, maybe she should go into event planning instead of being an amazing food blogger and working a day job!! Julie is just incredible and I knew from day one that her wedding day was going to be such a joy to be a part of! Michael and I headed up to Raspberry Plains on Saturday and I just had a good feeling that it was going to be a good day…. and I really think that comes from having a great relationship with our couples beforehand. Julie and I have been emailing for so long that I feel like I’ve known her forever!!

Belmead Mansion Engagement Shoot

I’m

discovering that there is SO much around me that I have never discovered. That’s one of the many reasons I LOVE being in/near the Richmond, Virginia area! If you want to find cool, ancient and historic places to shoot, this is your city! It’s amazing. Not only is the city full of great locations, the outskirts of Richmond are full of old historic mansions and plantations! Some are open to the public and some are not. Before their shoot, Stacey sent me a link to Belmead Mansion and I realized it was only 30 minutes from me! What?! We drove into the depths of Powhatan county and found this awesome

Evan + Patricia | Engaged

Tuckahoe Plantation Wedding Photographer

We met

this week at the beautiful Tuckahoe Plantation for their engagement pictures. I knew they were excited because I’ve been emailing with Patricia for what seems like forever!! :) However, I didn’t know until our session that she had a COUNTDOWN going for their eshoot!! So cute! I just love these two! Evan and Patricia met at their church and are finishing up at Virginia Tech. I totally remember those days. It’s tough to plan a wedding AND graduate AND figure out where you’re going to live AND find jobs. Whew! It seems like just yesterday Michael and I were in the same situation.
