Hi there! i’m katelyn.

Hello, and welcome to the KJ Blog! I'm Katelyn James, and my husband Michael and I are a wedding photography team based in Richmond, Virginia. Best of Portraits 2015

  • Engagements, Anniversaries & Specialty Portraits

This week is one of my FAVORITE blogging weeks! It’s the week that I highlight my BEST work of 2015 and I normally categorize these images into two categories : Weddings & Engagements. The issue this year is that I have had multiple anniversary sessions this year that I’m especially fond of and so I decided to make this post a “Best of Portraits” post!! I actually made this post creation process VERY easy on myself this year! Every time that I finished a shoot, I would take my FAVORITE images and save them in a “2015 Portfolio” folder in an online gallery!

Behind the Scenes 2015

  • Our Real Life

This is my favorite post of the year. Hands down! I laughed so hard I almost cried. These pictures are so unflattering in so many ways but because I love you guys, I’m going to forget how embarrassing they are and show them anyway! This year we photographed 31 weddings and we have one on New Years Eve and so I’m going to count that as a 2016 wedding!! This year has been amazing and as I look back through these BTS images, I laughed but I was also overcome with thankfulness.

The Simple Christmas

  • Why We Didn't Decorate This Year

I love decorating. It’s like my favorite thing to do outside of photography but even sometimes I get tired of photography! I mean, I take A LOT of pictures these days!! :) Since I have a deep love for decorating, Christmas decor is non-negotiable! Well, that is until this year that is. I have every teal ornament known to man. Our Christmas Tree is usually decorated with a Peacock theme and it’s full of decor from our wedding. Our mantle is usually full of our stockings and our kitchen table is normally so full of glittery goodness that you can’t even eat at it!
