I’m still not perfect and I definitely have days when I don’t get everything done… but I feel like I’m more likely to get more done now that I know what triggers my lack of motivation!! So enjoy this video blog and here’s to a super productive Monday filled with “growing” AND “Maintaining” tasks!!!

Oh my gosh this is so good. I don’t think I have ANY growing tasks right now… seriously!!! Because they are seen as things I don’t have “time” to get to! Which you mentioned in the video you feel like sometimes too. I’m inspired to do some “growing” tasks this week mixed in with the maintaining ones because I feel like all I have ever done is a constant cycle of edit, email, blog, aka maintaining tasks and that’s no fun. I am so beyond burned out and so needed to hear this simple yet so helpful advice. Thank you!!

Love it! Super helpful tip, thanks KJ!

I relate to this so much. I’m early in my career so I find that I have a LOT of ideas for growing tasks but the maintaining stuff does bog me down from time to time. Scheduling and being intentional helps so much!

Ah! I have felt this and have’t really realised why, I guess subconsciously I did but have never thought about it this way. This makes SO much sense!! Thanks for this Katelyn. Here’s to getting this week off to a productive start!!

I am a teacher, and I have been overwhelmed thinking about getting back to work in a couple weeks. This is such a timely blog post! Thank you for taking the time to share your insights and tips–they help people even outside of the small business community! I so appreciate knowing I can find encouragement, beautiful pictures, and a beautiful worldview on your blog.

This is revolutionary to me! Lately I have been unconsciously ignoring the “maintaining tasks” and doing some sample books for venues. In the thick of wedding season when I have 8-10 weddings to cull and get to clients. This vlog was just what I needed to hear today! And I always love “seeing” you, Katelyn! Keep it up!

Katelyn, I love this!! It’s such a simple concept but it’s all so true. Starting tomorrow (since the day’s almost done :)) I’m going to start my healthy balance and will hopefully feel more accomplished by the end of tomorrow. :)

I love how you keep it short and sweet, share examples, and then break it down on how to make it happen in my business! Thanks for taking the time to share your knowledge!

Loved it Katelyn! It feels good to know I am not the only one with those mixed up days… ;) and loved how you go for motivation!

Oh my goodness! This is SO true, and I had never realized it. I agree with Stephanie above. This applies to all careers. Thank you for sharing and helping me understand why there are 217 emails in my inbox right now (but new blog posts get written without procrastination.) This was my first visit here. Your blog site is all out gorgeous! (Makes me want to redesign mine!)
Off to work on those emails….

Omg! You have brought clarity to something I have pondered and specifically been asking myself lately!! It makes so much sense. It’s not just procrastination/ THANK-YOU. / I’ve been a photographer shooting weddings and newborns for around 10 years and my business is fairly successful. I got married about 7 years ago and had a little baby about 4 years ago and really slowed myself during these events, just when my business was really growing actually. Despite my lack of marketing etc over the last 5 years, client referrals and business have carried on surprisingly well. HOWEVER…, I really feel the push to make some changes and take my business to a new level. I am a christian also and I’ve always asked how can I make more of an impact in people’s lives and not simply build my own empire? I love your example. I just watched a 20 minute video you did with Zach and Jody. Loved it. In fact I NEVER leave comments on people’s blogs. But truly I am inspired. I LOVE what you are doing. May all your dreams come true. Let me know if you are ever in Toronto!!!! xoxo Nicole

This was perfect! A great, simple concept. It makes so much sense and it’s something I struggle daily with, working from home. Thanks so much for the video blog! Putting it into action!

Wow! Just wow! Something so simple yet very spot on! I’ve tried several methods including the Pomodoro timing and whatnot and nothing has really helped in motivating me but if I’m getting to do some growing tasks as well as the daily maintaing ones I think this would be a huge incentive for me because I’d feel like I accomplished a goal. I’m so trying this starting this week! Thank you so much

I loved this vlog! I kept wondering why things I was once really fired up about I now can’t stand to do, and wait until the absolute last minute. Now I know, and I can split up my daily tasks accordingly! This is a big changer for me. Thank you!

Wow, thank you! This was exactly what I needed to get me back on my feet! This week has really been a struggle to focus and feel motivated. I just started up my blog and am so excited about it, but the tedious tasks seem to get in the way of why I really want to start my business. Your advice will be monumentally helpful moving forward! I’m so glad I found this early on :)
