Hi there! i’m katelyn.

Hello, and welcome to the KJ Blog! I'm Katelyn James, and my husband Michael and I are a wedding photography team based in Richmond, Virginia. We hope you grab some coffee (or a diet coke, in my case) and enjoy viewing our latest work, browsing resources for photographers, and getting a little peek into our life!  Read more...

A Christmas Surprise

  • Christmas 2015

I’ll be the first to admit that we didn’t get to where we are today without help. The truth is, Michael and I owe SO much of what we have and what we have accomplished to our parents. Without them, we wouldn’t have been able to graduate without massive student loans… without them we wouldn’t have grown up in Christian homes with examples of Godly marriages…with them, I wouldn’t have started a business at age twenty. This Christmas, I stood up in Michael’s parent’s living room in front of all four of our parents sitting on the couch and tried to thank them for all of these things.

The Simple Christmas

  • Why We Didn't Decorate This Year

I love decorating. It’s like my favorite thing to do outside of photography but even sometimes I get tired of photography! I mean, I take A LOT of pictures these days!! :) Since I have a deep love for decorating, Christmas decor is non-negotiable! Well, that is until this year that is. I have every teal ornament known to man. Our Christmas Tree is usually decorated with a Peacock theme and it’s full of decor from our wedding. Our mantle is usually full of our stockings and our kitchen table is normally so full of glittery goodness that you can’t even eat at it!

Jazz Nativity 2015

  • A Recap and a little "White Christmas"!

I don’t do this often. Sharing something that includes me SINGING is quite vulnerable!! However, our Jazz Nativity at our church was this weekend and it was amazing!! So, I just couldn’t help but share a little piece of it! I had one solo and a duet! I’m letting you hear the duet because the solo was loud and a tad cheesy and I was flat in three parts!!! haha So , Enjoy the duet because it was my favorite. It’s a classic and you can’t go wrong with a classic!
